HAROON KHAN

Post by overhand_right »

Anybody seen baby brother's fight at the games?:

Have to say he looks very useful. What does everyone think of him boxing for Pakistan? If he can't get on the England team then why not?

Makes him a big fish in a small pond this way & maybe he goes to the 2012 Olympics? He'll be 21 by then, good age.

Do you think he could turn pro in Pakistan? Is there a boxing scene out there? Could be a money spinner if he's any good, which he looks in this fight. Thoughts?

I watched his prelim fight, looks very useful indeed. A few negatives though was he was very wild at times and could get picked off quite easy against a decent boxer. Still a long way to go, but a good start overall and a good stoppage as well.

Yep, a bit trigger happy & power mad but a strong performance. Anyone know his amateur record?

I don't think there is any professional boxing in Pakistan, either way he certainly wouldn't have the bottle to go back to that warzone when he's got it easy in Bolton. He did look very impressive though.

Have not seen him fight. Perspective is needed when watching boxing at the commonwealth games though, potential for massive gulfs in class.

I wouldn't want to drive a fuel tanker through there.

From what I remember (and I don't follow the ams that much) he got beaten a few times over here and was out of the squad on that basis.

Don't blame him for fighting for Pakistan.

It will be Selby.

Cant see him getting past the Welshmen. Haroon seems to have a pro style already and will get picked off - good luck to him in the pros!

I don't really have any problem with him boxing for Pakistan as he would never get into the England squad....

My problem is that he repeatedly bleats how he was 'deliberately kept out' of the England squad and 'not given the chance' etc like there's some sort of conspiracy. He's just not good enough for the England squad. HE's rated at number 5 or something in England.
