There was nothing in the contest but this win gives the Khan family the key to the 'I told you so' club.

What made me laugh was when Jim Neilly said something like 'Selby can have no complaints...every punch which should have scored, has been scored'.

This will never, ever happen with any system, probably - I'd say about 20% of scoring punches in any contest actually register. The margin of error is massive.

However, I thought this contest was close.

I thought it was a fair decision to be honest.

I am delighted for him, had a point to prove and proved it.

"Khan is just about in the top ten at his weight"

Well that was motivation and Khan used it.

Tightened up a lot from his first fight and slipped a lot of Selbys shot or took them on the gloves.

Well done, I hope he goes on and wins gold now, but cant see him getting past the Indian in th next round.

That wee Indian could really do something for Indian boxing if he turns pro.

It was close, but both fighters landed clean shots that didnt score. Selby in the first and Khan in the second.

Haven't seen the fight but it's an impressive result. I didn't think too much of Haroon, thought he had speed and that was it. Got tagged too easily for my liking. Well done to him though.

Well done Haroon Khan. Proved a point.

What's up with the low scoring? No wonder it was so close with so few points given out.

"Harry beat a brit who beat another brit, both of whom were picked 4 GB! How STUPID..."

The irony is he's calling something something stupid yet makes the stupidest comment of them all "picked 4 GB" didn't know GB were competing.

Speed?I didnt think he was that fast myself, not like his brother anyway and amir is heavier! His style looked more pro like than Amirs and he looked a decent puncher too to me.

Pretty sure the reason why he didn't get picked for England or GB is that he kept losing to potential rivals and the selectors went with guys who kept winning titles and medals. You can't select fighters based on who their brother is.

It's not as suspect as some will no doubt make out.

The selection process is much better and a million times fairer than it used to be.

Close fight, scruffy though. Selby did enough I thought. The scoring system is dire though. 3-3? Ridiculously low.

He's spouting off about 'how the England selection people got it wrong' etc etc.

What the prat fails to realise is the squad no1 pulled out injured - and months earlier Haroon declared he would be in the green vest for Pakistan.

Also you could only separate the likes of Stubbs, Selby and Khan with count backs. It's not like he banged them out and has got the gold round his neck already.

His 'told you so' attitude is souring his brother's achievments.

No matter anyway - I got the Indian down for the gold.

If an Irish fighter was saying "with the help of God" or "thanks be to God" at the end of his sentances would you be saying the same thing?

It wouldn't wind me up as much true, but that is because more than other religions, Muslims just push it in your face all the time (HAmed, Small, KHan etc). ANyway I am taking myself out of this line of conversation as it will degenerate into the usual crap and this is a boxing forum.

Religion should be dicussed in the 'Other Sports' forum if at all.

Yet again. As I said on an earlier thread, this shows a distinct lack of class. Why not just say "fair enough, the England selectors went with someone else, but Harry will use it as a motivator to prove them wrong". But instead we get all this b/s like "it proves 1 thing Bob (McCracken), you can't select a good team" and "unfair treatment". It's a victim mentality, "I'm so hard done by". Build a bridge, and GET OVER IT!

He should be thankful his bro is elegible to represent more than 1 country. I'm sure there are other English amateurs out there who feel they should be at the Games, but aren't.

Is that def Amir Khan's account?

I think he has to learn the difference between saying things to his pals and saying things publicly
