I think the poster who said we need more younger, hungrier fighters is spot on. Sprott aside, the veterans were woeful, McPhilbin, relative to his experience, was the fighter of the night.

I know they cant predict how a fighter is going to show up but surely, knowing the styles and capabilities of them from prior fights, they can just turn round and say

'McBride? fat, inactive, plodding McBride? leave him out of it.'

if the criteria is people whove done damage to Tyson id rather have seen Robin Givens in there.

Now, is he not skint? I am sure he could manage a few rounds.


Seriously though. To entice bigger fighters, the money needs to be there. What type of cash would it take to entice the likes of Froch, who I know would be game for a tear up if the price was right. Lets be honest, a high level event could even go PPV, as much as that would also piss me off, I would rather pay for a something like a high level super 8 WBC 1 night tournament with a chunky prizepot, and maybe chuck in a belt if avaliable, or title shot, that some of the weak PPVs we currently get. 1 PPV, 8 men, split accordingly, could it work? ©

Agree 100%. Absolutely critical if you're to get a better calibre of fighter taking part.

Great idea, and I think one that will save the series from going stale, and take it to the next level. How would the governing bodies look at this, and would previous Prizefighter contestants have their records amended?

There are enough writers here, maybe they need to do their bit and get this idea in the open. I am sure we all agree.

Trouble with that is, what if a top ten fighter gets knocked out in 30 seconds in prizefighter - does he still get a world title shot, if the KO doesn't count as part of his real record ?

I see your point, a good scrap is a good scarp. It has potential to attract some more names though should the records become separate.

I don't actually think the bulge in Nelson's trousers was that big. Maybe he deflated after the final. I just though he had very tight trousers on.

It was my first prizefighter live and though I would go again I wouldn't go and watch heavyweights - Sprott basically won because he was the fittest! Saw big Larry there and told him he would have won it easy, he probably got told that a hundred times and it's true. Had a tenner with one of the lads on the first fight couldn't believe how unfit Mcbride was so went for his opponent, gutted he was awful. and in the sweepstake I had the first 2 fighters to lose and then this morning didn't manage to get up for work, all in all an expensive night.
