My thoughts are with Alex's family and friends, and the guys at the Impact gym.
Absolutely bloody tragic.

I did'nt know that, is there any regs that should have prevented Alex from fighting again without a CAT scan and medical sign off?
As a former Amatuer I always feel a little empty when this happens. I am sure that the investigation will reveal all.
Re: Alex Slade
I suspect he fought under Global banner, which IMO is no more than tent fighting.ra2006 wrote:AntonS wrote:I've been told he collapsed after his previous fight. How the fark was he allowed to fight again??

Re: Alex Slade
Was at the fights in Mackay, there was a doctor ar ring side, the bout from what I saw - which was not much, looked competitive.
Alex was given immediate attention from the doctor at ringside and taken away by ambulance, it was the Sunstate Ameteur Boxing League titles, I am a trainer and have fought under the old Association. I attended the Global Golden Gloves in Toowoomba and must say that all three orgainsations do a good job when it comes to doctors at ring side and banning fighters after stopages.
What happened was just a tragedy, will be intesting to hear what comes from the doctors - was Alex s death directly attributed to the punishment he told in that fight in Mackay ?
I cannot comment on what happened after his last fight as I do not know.
I have been to a few tent fights growing up and living in Regional Queensland and you cannot comapre in any way "tent" fights to ameteur boxing no matter who the organsiation is.
