Interesting times for the American now, who's based down in Kiwi land, there will be no shortage of challengers, Kiwi Pownceby, Aussies Casey, Bell or Caparello, I doubt if McConville will be interested, he's more just interested in defending his Aussie title at present.

Jameson Bostic KO1 Yuzo Kiyota for OPBF title
Kiwi based American Jameson Bostic, tonight Ko'd former OPBF Super Middleweight Kingpin Yuzo Kiyota in Tokyo, in what many will consider an upset, Bostic exploded an uppercut on the chin of Kiyota and then after a barrage, the referee stopped the fight in round one.

Re: Jameson Bostic KO1 Yuzo Kiyota for OPBF title
Was the perfect result and made a huge statement in the fashion in which it was won. Kiyota was never going to be a world champ and he was stepping up from Super-Middleweight but he was regarded as a quality fighter in Japan so for Jameson to travel to his backyard and come away with a 1st round stoppage win over a tough guy like Kiyota was a fantastic result.
Options and doors have opended instantly, so will now be a job of picking which option fits best. Looking into a Soulan Pownceby VS Bostic fight with SOul putting up his WBO belt and Jameson his OPBF, the winner would then be nicely placed in the rankings for a BIG fight.

Nice win for Bostic!
Any video of the fight?
I'm assuming Kiyota retains his OPBF Super Middleweight belt...

That's a cracking result to go to Japan and stop him in the 1st. Nice one, would look forward to Bostic-Pownceby. Or Maybe Bell or Casey - all 3 would be good options.
Re: Jameson Bostic KO1 Yuzo Kiyota for OPBF title
Wow!I'm shocked, great result for Jameson........ now if he can resist fighting 0-3 fighters for his next 8 or so fights this guy might have something to say at lt heavy.
Honestly this Bloke Jameson ain't no mug, congrats to Bostic and team, .
PS Mcconville would fight him for a Schooner and peanuts at the end of the bar, but Bostic and team want what most people in this country are losing interest in, a Regional title(Which means shitt)before even discussing a fight.while McConville obviously is trying to bring prestige back to the Australian title, have a look at the response of everyone around the world on the current scene about a Yank Kiwi resident trying to get a big fight, because of his bogus ranking thru fighting blokes off the street for a regional title, only a few seem to think they matter and wont allow there fighters to fight otherwise........ Calamity you have no idea what your on about......SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Yes we will fight McConville, in fact was a fight we were pursuing before the Kiyota fight came up. I'll offer them a schooner and bag of peanuts to come to Nz see howwe go
Bostic travelled with Trainer Mike angrove, and they got the job done.
Fighting lower levels guys hasnt been because there is no desire to mix it with the better guys around as was showen in taking the Kiyota fight in his backyard! Theres always been a plan behind it and now it is starting to come to fruition wether or not it works completely depedns on alot of factors but its starting to show benefits

Re: Jameson Bostic KO1 Yuzo Kiyota for OPBF title
Bostic is pretty slick and can/will beat most of the Australasian "front runners" at Light Heavy.... the guy's a character and not short of confidence. He has been hounding Pownceby for a while now..... ain't that right N2?
Re: Jameson Bostic KO1 Yuzo Kiyota for OPBF title

Pownceby vs Bostic will be a great fight. They are both the highest ranked fighters in Australasia. Lets hope something can be arranged so both these fighters can perform to a sell out crowd and a TV audience. It looks like with Bostic and Pownceby, New Zealand could be a rare favourite in boxing against Australia if a contender series takes place at Light- Heavy. Looking forward to some great match ups in Oceania boxing.
Re: Jameson Bostic KO1 Yuzo Kiyota for OPBF title
mcconville is definately interested, but one step at a time
Re: Jameson Bostic KO1 Yuzo Kiyota for OPBF title
I think Aus would be better represented with McConville, Lovett, Bell, Foley, but it sure would be a very good weight to do an aus v nz contender as ther would be some great fights
Re: Jameson Bostic KO1 Yuzo Kiyota for OPBF title
Lovett,
Does anyone know how to contact these guys?
Would any of these above fighters be interested in coming to NZ to fight for some regional titles withing the next 3months?dan h wrote:I think Aus would be better represented with McConville, Lovett, Bell, Foley, but it sure would be a very good weight to do an aus v nz contender as ther would be some great fights
