PLACES IN LONDON SHOWING VITALI FIGHT?
PLACES IN LONDON SHOWING VITALI FIGHT?
Sorry about the upper case. On a shitty gym pc.
Gonna be in Covent Garden. Any ideas for somewhere fairly close that would definitely be showing it?
I know it's not one for the purists, but the ringwalk alone will do it for me.

They always show the boxing. It's on at 9pm according to their schedule.

The Sports cafe is absolutely horrendous, beyond your worst nightmares. It's supposed to be a 'sports cafe', but there won't be ANY sound on any of the sport on the TV's, rather a DJ will be shouting down the mike into the half empty toilet of a venue 'SATURDAY NIGHT LONDOOON! ITS GONNA BE BIIIIG!!' and spinning dance-pop at full volume, whilst a few blokes try blank it all out & concentrate on the sport they came to watch, and a bunch of Henry Lloyd clad chavs mope around shooting pool and eyeing up anything female like a dog eyes steak, and everybody's paying five quid a pint from a bar that takes forever to get served at. There's a large dining area with a massive cinema size projector perfect to watch sports, so at 9 on the dot midway through a boxing undercard security clear everybody out of that area and convert it into a 'dance floor' which nobody dances on. Did I mention you have to pay to get in? An astonishing place.
Re: PLACES IN LONDON SHOWING VITALI FIGHT?
Yeah, I wouldn't want to go.
What's the next best option? A Walkabout or Springbok and hope they are showing a PPV on an obscure channel? Equally horrendous but far less likely.

No I agree completely, I can't think of anywhere else in central London. I wondered around everywhere looking for a bar playing Klitschko-Chagaev and no one knew what the frick I was on about. Went back to the sports cafe, bitterly defeated.

Your best bet is to join a casino as they often show sport - not sure if they still have a 24hr 'cooling off' period though?

that'd be the clincher for me. I mean, if I am in London on a Saturday night, I definitely want it to be BIIIIIIGGG.overhand_right wrote:The Sports cafe is absolutely horrendous, beyond your worst nightmares. That is damn funny; though sadly very true!

Well fook that then. I wont be going there. Ever!
Re: PLACES IN LONDON SHOWING VITALI FIGHT?
It's on Primetime, same channel that's PPV'd Vitali's last few fights. channel 480. Not to be confused with Premier Sports, who are basically Setanta lite and doing PPV boxing also (ch 433)

Thanks - I got Virgin, so not sure I can get it. I'm prepared to watch it on the internet. After watching Briggs' shameful and embarassing performance at the weigh in I want to see him spoken to in serious terms.orbtastic wrote:It's on Primetime, same channel that's PPV'd Vitali's last few fights. channel 480. Re: PLACES IN LONDON SHOWING VITALI FIGHT?
Heh.
I think that Primetime do a webcast, obviously PPV but I know a couple of people who said it was not bad the last time they used it. Check on their website, I've not seen it mentioned, maybe they've stopped. I know there was some flaw in the system for the S6 first fights where most people seemed to get it for free. I never check my bank statements so don't know.
I think briggs is just selling the fight, he usually talks a good talk but after 4-5 rounds of being jabbed to death I think he'll have better ideas.

Re: PLACES IN LONDON SHOWING VITALI FIGHT?
Fair point, but the fight has already been sold. I don't know if it's on PPV in germany but I find a 38 year old greying man acting like a 15 year old thug a bit demeaning. Also Briggs is rumouired, and indeed looks like, a severe juicerorbtastic wrote:Heh.

Concur.
I'm pretty certain the pair of them are free to air on German TV but still pull in the Euros.

Re: PLACES IN LONDON SHOWING VITALI FIGHT?
Nice picture of Briggs, he looks ferocious, a bit like the lion in the wizard of Oz. No doubt he'll come out huffing and puffing, then get battered into submission shortly after.
The sports cafe nightmare aside, there's not a lot of boxing minded pubs in central London, Green Man, in Soho, just off Oxford street - give them a ring, they're big on sports with loads of plasmas.
It's free view in Germany, RTL. I'm going to try to pick it up later, as no way I'd want to pay for the Klitchko bum of the month tour.

Wlad's face shows how seriously a threat they consider Briggs.

Yep they clearly see him as a bit of a joke don't they. German TV has ring walk listed at 9.45 UK time, so Das Scorpions for 15 minutes then first bell 10pm UK time.

Who cares. They have dug up Briggs as he is the only name to fight apart from Haye.john welsh wrote:I really need a site to watch this, anybody know of any?

The like of Joe Bugner, Ron Lyle, Gerry Cooney would be the undisputed HW Champion of the World today.
