Unusually we haven't had one of these 'Herol Bomber Graham' threads in a month or 2

Who:Herol Bomber Graham
Why:You couldn't hit him with a bag of rice (JJ excepted) and he was beautiful to watch on the offensive

Definiately Bomber Graham. Does anyone reckon Vanzie could have won a title if he'd got the right breaks?

Jock McAvoy and Len Harvey, modern times I would say Herol 'Bomber' Graham - watching him was poetry but if I had to pick one it would be Len Harvey.

they would have had to be some kind of breaks. I mean, the kind of breaks that could result in Beyonce, Jessica Biel and Suzanne Virdee off Midlands News having a naked Royal Rumble wrestling match for the right to have a threesome with me. those kind of breaks.

Only down to the corruption of the three judges in his first fight with Willie Jorrin - what a disgrace that was! :shame:

Kirkland Laing had the talent but lacked the discipline.

Colin Jones was a cracking fighter too, he never won a world title.

Wasnt a million miles away form beating injin chi in their first contest either, another 5% in a couple of rounds and he wouldve nicked it (i think he gave every ounce that fight though, that extra 5% wasnt there to be given).

As a side, what a fight their first battle was. Often overlooked too nowdays.

I have to agree. He was definitely good enough to have won the European title (I believe he was constantly fiddled out of a shot at the Euro title, despite being mandatory) and was robbed against Earl. But against a genuine world-class operator, he would have been found wanting IMO. I was there at the Guildhall the night he got floored five times by a 12 fight prospect by the name of Yuri Romanov. :box:

He just kept circling to his own left and onto Romanov's right-hand. Now Romanov, there's a guy who should have fought for a world title. What a waste of talent.

Definitely. Chi admitted that he was badly hurt by the body shots of Brodie. Heartbreaking that he didn't get the verdict versus Jorrin. That guy was a jammy so and so. He got a gift verdict versus Oscar Larios too. But Larios made sure in the rematch by icing him in one! :OhYes:

It probably is Herol. But don't forget he had three goes at it, so it wasn't a case of thwarted opportunities. And at no time were the fights against the established number one in the division and they were twice for vacant titles.

Though can't come up with an alternative.

Exactly. He was good, but when it came to the crunch he didnt deliver. It sounds harsh, but he will be best known for getting sparked.Someone like Brodie was genuinely robbed.

I'd say Len Harvey or Dave Charnley.

Cracking fight. I think that was the fight which effectively ended Mikey's career. He was never the same after that night. Chi was one right hard mutha. He absorbed some sickening shots without wilting against Brodie, shots that would have stopped or ground other men down.

Yes, Watson was most unfortunate, beat Benn, and was I thought Robbed against Eubank in their first fight. Had the rematch not transpired as it had, I'm sure he'd have won a world title at some point.

I personally thought Watson the best of the bunch from these isles.
