Degale v Smigga happens and it will be a money spinner for all those concerned.

oh, indeedMachoMan09 wrote: "Can DeGale sell a ticket?" Good point and perhaps one reason why Frank is electing to move Chunky along at the rate he is. if a lad is laden with talent but lacking a (ticket buying) fanbase, why not expediate his ascent and get him onto the world stage (if he has it in him) at the earliest opportunity? Simple, bottom-line maths, I reckon.

Re: Smigga v Degale
my thoughts:
i guess i gotta go with degale but i have always had the feeling there's something not all there with him. people say he's skillful but his fundamentals are awful at times and i can definitely see him getting put on his arse when he makes silly mistakes; backing straight up with hands down, off balance, moving the wrong way at the wrong time, just generally thinking he's floyd when he isn't. meh, he isn't skilled IMO just very fast and athletic.
i actually think Degale may be vulnerable late on if Smigga can get him that far- his style wastes a LOT of energy, he has no experience of going the distance, and i think he could go into a shell if it goes past 6/7 rounds, not knowing if he can do the 12 or not.
if i was Smith, i would look to be cautious early, not really look to open up too much till maybe 4 rounds in. i would have faith in my ability and experience in championship fights, i wouldn't get disheartened by getting outpointed on pitterpat stuff- i'd be looking for that mistake and try to absolutely jump on him when it came, even if i had to wait 6/7/8 rounds. if he goes chasing the game too hard he could get picked off. patience will be key for Smith as the slower man.
will be really interesting if Smith can land well to the body, or maybe Degale gets cut which he's no experience of and he might panic.
i just hope its not a blowout or silly feckin stoppage, and I am pretty sure if it does go into the championship rounds it will get pretty interesting.

Re: Smigga v Degale
I will be livid if Smith gets stopped on cuts or if there is some sort of pitter patter premature stoppage.
Barring the above outcomes i dont think Degale can stop Smith hes a hard bastard and can take a punch. I think this fight becomes interesting in the later rounds Degale comes out looks great for the first few but then Smith roughs him up a bit hits him with a few hard shots he's not used to taking. DeGale tires and slows a bit thats when it gets interesting.
Make no mistake Smith is not being fed to Degale here Frank is throwing Degale in at the deep end because he is costing him a fortune and needs to see if he is really worth it.

good point. I mean, an Olympic champion showing similarities to a 46-fight unbeaten world champ. with that in mind the favouritism towards Degale is baffling indeed.

indeed, with the best win ( which he actually lost ) in the 46 fight career was against a 45 year old.
Calzaghe's legacy is an actual joke.

I have the fight, Hopkins clearly won it by 2 rounds. Most people who actually know about boxing agree.
Calzaghes legacy is a farce
Career beat wins again ;
Peter manfredolol,
Jeff loly,
Mikel kesslol ( who a very limited Froch only just got beat by.
Oh and a shot to bits Roy jones.
What a fighter joey c was.

Re: Smigga v Degale
if it goes the distance it will surely have to get interesting given (a) degale's lack of experience past 6 rounds and (b) his tendency to gratuitously waste energy in unneccessary movement
i wouldn't be surprised to see Smith bully him around a bit in clinches, 'old-man' him and show him a few pro tricks.

you misunderstand me. i was trying to show my gratitude, seeing as how Calzaghe's legacy has never been questioned on any boxing forums, your posts were a rare ray of light and insight in what are generally unedifying media. so i was just letting you know, in case you may have been worried, that your posts with the whole amusing 'lol' gig aren't in any way juvenile or generic. The mighty POB wrote:No darling, I'm not trying to be funny I am informing you of how sh*t they are and how sh*t his legacy is.Counter-puncher wrote:i like the way you insert the 'lol' into names, its really funny and original and doesn't make you look like a shallow cliche-spouting imbecile, at all.

Hope Smith doesn't get cut and it goes into the trenches. DeGale is a bit flash for me but is improving. Smith is very handy all round; he looks bullish; very strong. . We've seen what Smith is made of; hope we get to see a decent fight. I think Smith can manhandle DeGale into the late rounds and pick it up. He'll have to throw a few back though when the big flurries come in or the ref will be in quick and sharp.

lacy was the next tyson, before calzaghe ruined him
Re: Smigga v Degale
How do we see this fight panning out?i have it in my heid that degale will rush into this and smith will outdo him in those early rounds ..then degale will settle in the mid rounds but may win a few rounds..Then smith will over power him in the last few rounds...degales inexpedience will be shown in this fight and will be taken to trenches ..i cant wait to see his wee rat face after smigga has pounded him over 12 rounds !
