I believe there are a good few years ahead for the heavyweight division in the UK. There are a good batch of novices and intermediate level pros cutting about who are paving the way towards some cracking domestic showdowns.

That was a purse bid situation. Won by warrren.

But to be honest, I think it's a fantastic match up.

Worthy of it's own night, especially if a Walsh brother gets his own headline fight against some unknown African...

... How is that a Saturday night prime time fight??

Right now, it's just so hard to say, as he simply hasn't had the fights.

Yep, those scousers bigging each other up again!

Price hasn't been anywhere near tested yet so it's hard to say how far he will go. It's a no brainer that he has the potential to get to british title level though, based on his amateur career.

But when he's knocking over bums we learn little and maybe he stagnates also so it will be a bigger shock to his sytem when he gets in with someone good. I think with the olympic guys they should be matched tough quickly before they stagnate and get into bad habits against lesser fighters.

It's a Friday Fight Night on SKY, from the York Hall or Newham lesuire centre. Nothing more, nothing less. It's a good match. I personally would not like to see it as a headliner, let Larry concentrate on the fight rather than the event etc.

Fury would annihilate Price if the fight was made now.

I know he gets a lot of stick for some of the crap that he talks.... but let's be honest, of all the domestic lads with ten or so fights, his slate is far superior.

A dominant stoppage over Peret - who took Price six rounds (and Chisora eight for that matter) and two wins over McDermott - one which I scored a draw and one stoppage..... he's mixed at ten round level and not been found wanting.

Contrast that to the lads Price has been in with, none of them are as good as a solid journeyman like Tony Booth..... he's got a lot of skills but seems to fight a bit scared, he doesn't jab with any authority at all and doesn't get his right hand going nearly enough. It's alright looking good against opponents that shouldn't have a licence to box on a professional card in the UK like Basovs and Polakevic or whoever, but a McDermott who was hungry after two close-ish losses for the British title would have taken his head off that night.

Is his chin shaky? I'm reluctant to place too much emphasis on the KO loss in the Olympics as the opponent was quality..... but he did fold rather easily for me.

Price can definitely improve with testing fights - something his promoter seems reluctant to make..... perhaps he's got too many heavies on his books and has grandiose ideas about them all going a long way - when realistically the matches ought to be getting made right now.

Price has thin neck and ankles. If any b class connects he's going down.

According to this thread two of the countries most exciting prospects are no hopers and the heavyweight division is dying- Wonder why we bother watching eh?

Bit of positivity wouldn't go amiss.

Is getting as far as domestic level and winning a British title a sign of a 'no hoper' Jeff?

I think that would be a successful career for either Dallas or Price.

One of his early pro fights, he was hit after the bell or after a break and he went down like he was shot.
