European Heavyweight title.

Anybody know whats happening with this title - its seems like current holder, Luan Kransiqi is fighting Lance (Goofi) Whittikar in a WBO title eliminator so it is possible that he might vacate.

One would assume that Timo Hoffman would be in line to be one of the co-challengers for a vacant title fight, given that he drew with Kransiqi in his final defence.

However, who would be his fellow challenger - with Sprott now the EU champion and I think Skelton and Williams (possibly Harrison) firmly in the top ten. Surely there is a shout that one of these could be inline for the a crack at Hoffman.

Looking at Hoffman's dreadful display vs Mivrovic, then you would have to tip the top three Britains (Williams, Sprott and Skelton) to beat him.

With Williams and Skelton facing each other, I hope team Sprott (is it Sports Network?) can get Sprott involved in the vacant European title mix.

That does sound promising, lets hope it will go to purse bids and lets hope whoever is in charge of Sprott (I do believe it is Sports Network) make a big effort to win it.

Looking at their two previous fights, it seems like whoever gets home advantage will be favourite to win this encounter. Although, one suspects that since 2001 it is Sprott that has been doing more of the improving.

Luan Krasniqi has to vacate the title if he wins vs Whittaker. If he loses he has to fight Hoffmann.

If the title would be vacated then Hoffmann as the challenger would get another chance. Regarding the rankings Wladi Klitschko and Sinan Samil Sam are next but Sauerland won´t make an internal contest for the EBU title though Sam wants to fight for the WBC title and Wladi for the IBF title. Skelton and Sprott are following, so one of these guys will fight Hoffmann IMO.

Don´t take the Mirovic fight, from round one Hoffmann was "blind" on one eye because he had Mirovics thumb in the eye. Hoffmann was brilliant vs Krasniqi on the other hand, his best performance. but i give both brits a chance to win on points but it´s not possoble to knock Hoffmann out, he has a steelhead.

i heard Hoffmans eye was pretty bad afterwards... is it career threatening????
Of course Sprott has already beaten Hoffman twice although the longer distance may well favour the bigger man

I haven´t heard anything about how Hoffmann is doing. biut if he had ended his career it would have given a press notice...

Who was the last Brit to win the heavyweight EBU? It wasn't Lennox was it? :( That is quite bad if it was. 10-15 years without a european champion. But Francis never got it, Hide never tried...can't think who else.

Hold on, I've actually checked. Akinwande was the last if you include him, but that's still over 10 years ago.

Thats a good point, I'm sure I read (I'm sure it was posted here) that Hoffmann suffered a detatched retina.

that´s an absolute advantage. Sauerland and Kohl have not shown paper fights from their beginning.

Wasn't Sprott one of those signed up by Sports Network to lure Audley in?

Sprott was signed (or given options) by Sports Network as part of Danny's big return to the company in January of that year. It went pear shaped for Danny and Sprott won.

However, not sure of Sprott's promotional status after it went pear shaped for him. I believe his first fight back after Skelton was on a SN show, but it is strange that SN didn't make a bid (or at least a high one) for Sprott vs Koc - it was a good undercard fight.

Why not have this fight the same night as Skelton V Williams.
I am sure sports network could win the bid. It would make that an excellent line up. Also help sell more tickets for the fight imo.

Not a bad outcome for him at all. I think if it goes to points again, I have a bad feeling that a) it may go to a home town decision and b) sauerland will make sure it's in Germany, so Sprott will have to equal if not better his display against Koc. Should have a very good shout though. He lost some weight for the Koc fight, and should be full of confidence.

And if he were to win, imagine the potential British clashes we could get for the EBU.
