Re: DAVID PRICE TO JOIN JEFFREIS
He's staying with Franny his trainer who is a top coach and going over there for sparring Im led to believe, Pricey is a top athlete and has a good trainer in Fran he really does.. 1 of the best conditioned heavyweights in the world is big Pricey...

MachoMan09 wrote:What sort of level guys are they, though, Larry? Are there just lots of them or are they actually any good? Lamon Brewster (67) is the highest ranked LA heavyweight in the world. After him it is Bowie Tupou (114) who is one place higher than Tom Dallas (115). Don't get me wrong, I appreciate that there are guys from other parts of the States and world that make their way to LA to train but I'm just questioning if it is the Mecca it is made out to be (at heavyweight)?
There is, of course, plenty of benefit from having countless guys to spar with - not least conditioning - but if they aren't that good, what are you really learning?
Getting over to some of the gyms in Germany and even Russia could potentially pay greater dividends than going to LA, in my opinion.
The lads will have top class sparring i think it will pay great dividends, Larry i hear they come from all over the states to spar????Pricey Larry and jeffries will learn loads, just look how khan has come on since training in states best look larry

Re: DAVID PRICE TO JOIN JEFFREIS
yeah sorry, i meant they come from all over the states, not just LA. and I also have the benefit of freddie roach guiding me in the gym which i wouldn't get in germany or russia
Re: DAVID PRICE TO JOIN JEFFREIS
I interviewed Brian Hughes, who has been to the Wildcard and has a relationship with one of their trainers too from years back.warmachine wrote:yeah sorry, i meant they come from all over the states, not just LA. and I also have the benefit of freddie roach guiding me in the gym which i wouldn't get in germany or russia
Anyway he said the Sauerland gym in Germany, which is purely Cruiserweights and Heavyweights is by far the place to be for sparring that he's seen in his time in boxing. Said it was purely 200lb+ guys and that was it.
Lots of gold / silver amateur star big guys from the eastern block and poo load of massive heavyweights looking to impress from all over Russia.
Tyson Fury sparred Robert Helenius, Obenga, , Ledebev, Alexeev, all in a day.

How come he didn't continue? I know he's going over to Steward which is great news but was just interested.
Thanks

Johnny Nelson used to earn his living sparring in Germany when he wasnt the promoters favourite boxer over here.He reckoned it was extremely hard work.

sorry but i just dont rate price and dont think he will even win a british title, therefore I think him travelling to the usa to spar is a waste of time..I just dont think he has the mentality needed to be a top class pro..hope he proves me wrong so, so good luck to him

Re: DAVID PRICE TO JOIN JEFFREIS
i definitely would like to take a trip to germany to spar these guys but I also want a coach to watch me and correct my mistakes and give me new moves during these sparring sessions. Otherwise I feel for me, the sparring is pointless as I need alot of guidance to improve to the point where I am happy. James can't come with me as he doesn't have the funds and has alot of work on so that is why I go to the wildcard. Also Lennox lewis came to the wildcard once when I was there and really helped me out the whole day. Also the two conditioners they have in the wildcard, Alex Ariza and Micheal Vale, are invaluable in their knowledge in getting boxers fit for the ring and the rigors of training. As I have said, when you are in the gym with Freddie, he teaches so much its reallly unbelievable, and you would have to experience it to believe it.
Also in the wildcard they have two top ten cruiserweights in Ola Afolabi and Lateef Kayode who I am especially close to that provide great sparring as well as the heavyweight prospect Andy Ruiz.

Might be an attempt at a joke Larry...
Anyway, I take it you and Pricey have already sparred countless rounds. How do you find working with him? Also, how is the sparring going with Dallas? You two still do a few rounds mate?

Re: DAVID PRICE TO JOIN JEFFREIS
Sounds perfect. I.ve read it's a very competitive gym where the sparrings hard as people want to make their point and get ahead in the business. have you found that or are all gyms that way?warmachine wrote:i definitely would like to take a trip to germany to spar these guys but I also want a coach to watch me and correct my mistakes and give me new moves during these sparring sessions. Re: DAVID PRICE TO JOIN JEFFREIS
i have never sparred David Price but would love to and will meet up with him and Tony Jefferies when I get out there. The sparring is very hard in the wildcard and sometimes a little too hard as I have seen guys come out with horrific injuries but thats the way it is. everyone wants freddie to take a look at them.
