If I fought - Duran, Leonard, foreman, Ali and hagler now o would beat them all because they are old.

Does this make me a great fighter ? Or does it make me a man that fights past it fighters ?

Joey c has basically done the above. He was a corpse hunter.

I think so far I've just seen a load of flash and packaging from Degale and not really seen the minerals yet.

So it's all a bit of a mystery how good he is.

The Olympic gold is a fantastic achievement , but aside from marketing, it's as useful as a chocolate coin in the pro ranks (ask David Reid).

Smith may not be Monzon, but he is of proven stock and has good all round attributes. He also has a decent amateur pedigree himself.

I think Degale loses his mind when he becomes the main event.

He is so obsessed with image and himself, that it may cloud the task in hand. Throw in a vociferous crowd and a steely eyed Smith with no weight on his shoulders and you could see a bad dose of 'too much, too soon' for James.

Smith isn't stupid; And whilst the promoter may try to appear unbiased, he has to back degale based on the investment to date.

Or they think degale isn't good enough and want to off load his wages.

Now, thats cynical.

Not saying you are wrong.....

:box:

Just cynical.

But hell, this is a fight about which there can be no complaints from fans.

A good defending champion V a hot prospect.

This is, surely, exactly what we want to see.

If I could be guaranteed a refund in case this fight fell through, I'd definatly buy a ticket for this show.

You might as well chuck your money away.
Am I the only one who thinks people are getting carried away with the hype surrounding Degale? He is a decent boxer but has lots of flaws (to be expected for a 8 fight boxer). He will be fighting in the champions backyard in his 9th pro fight and will more than likely be brought into the later rounds where he has never been before. To be completely writing Smith off is nonsense in my opinion.

Maybe Frank thinks he needs knocking down a peg or 2. One step backwards, two steps forwards. Look what happened to Mitchell after losing his 0. An early defeat DeGale can recover from may take the pressure off. Khan & Haye are better for loosing that invinsible tag.

he might be a 8 fight pro but surely he can handle himself by now after probably around 200 pro fights. And to say he hasn't been 12 is not to say he can't.

whether he is good enough to beat him you can bet that Smith will have the exact blue-print worked out for fighting Degale, it's just whether he can do it.

I think Smith needs to put some hurtin bombs on him and wake up his ancestors if he is to win, rather than get outslicked over 12 and drop a UD.

Something nobody has mentioned is i bet $wifty knows an awful lot about DeGales strengths and weaknesses having spent years in Sheffield with him and watching him around the world.

No darling, I'm not trying to be funny I am informing you of how sh*t they are and how sh*t his legacy is.

If I'm a cliche by saying Calzaghe has a farce of anewcord then yes I'm a cliche but you are a moron for thinking any different.

You are the type of moron allegedly earns he cash from.
you misunderstand me. i was trying to show my gratitude, seeing as how Calzaghe's legacy has never been questioned on any boxing forums,
I believe you'll find that the technical term is "lolgacy".

I wasnt disputing that i was pointing out your blanket statement.
and I was correcting yours:

"You forgot to mention he beat eubank too - how many world title holders did he beat through his career? what 10 something like that?"

He beat 2 world title holders, not 10. Big difference.

Lacy and Kessler.

Eubank, Reid, Woodhall, Brewer, Mitchell, Hopkins & Jones, all former world champs.

Only one of those 9 went on to hold another title.
I said "title holders" in reference to people who have held major titles i didnt comment weather they were former, present or future. Bika is a title holder is he not?

You're contradicting yourself a bit here.

I can't be bothered to go into the ins and outs of it, the facts are out there.

Bika's never held a world title, probably never will.

I cant see how i contradicted myself, i think i post on here enough for people to know i didnt think that calzaghe had fought ten guys who held world titles at the time of the fights.

Bika did until recently hold the IBO world title belt and i believe he got that a few years ago (after he fought calzaghe).

can't say no to that price.

As a bit of a side note, has there ever been a thread about a supermiddleweight without it descending in to a debate over Calzaghe's legacy??

best way to cook your meat is to blast it in oven at highest temp for 15 min to seal it & crisp it up & then wap it down real low & roast it slowly :TU:
