Tragedy For Katsidis
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_s ... 104685.stm
Apparently his brother, a successful rider in horse racing, was found dead in his house.
Apparently not suspicious, though there is no cause of death mentioned in the article.....
Condolences to Michael

That's a shame. I wonder how much it will affect his upcoming fight vs JMM?

Really sad to hear. Best wishes to you and your family Michael, good luck vs JMM if you go ahead with it — something tells me you will.

Sad news.
If he does go ahead with the fight I have a feeling he will be taking the belt home.
RIP

It can work that way Sugar, look at Buster Douglas. Personally I'd be delighted if Katsidis were to beat JMM. Nothing against JMM, but Katsidis is the kind of fighter I find it very easy to support, exciting and a class act to boot.

Yeah, he seems like a really genuine fella. I remember how humble and almost apologetic he was after the Mitchell fight.Glyn Leach wrote:It can work that way Sugar, look at Buster Douglas. He's a very driven, focused person anyway so when you throw the extra bit of motivation this tragedy could provide in to the mix, I see him beating JMM.

Was just about to say the say the same. His post fight interview sums him upSweetLikeSugar wrote:Yeah, he seems like a really genuine fella. I remember how humble and almost apologetic he was after the Mitchell fight.
Re: Tragedy For Katsidis
Agreed, and he was equally respectful after the Earl fight, and then again when Murray called him out. A true fighter and a true gent. Sorry for his loss...SweetLikeSugar wrote:Yeah, he seems like a really genuine fella. I can see your point of view there but to me JMM is a true legend who can box and brawl! However in this instance i would support katsidis because of what he's going through.Glyn Leach wrote:It can work that way Sugar, look at Buster Douglas. That's terrible news. Condolences to the Katsidis family. Can't blame the guy for pulling out. Hopefully Michael can come back from this and fight Marquez down the line.

Perfectly understandable. Poor guy he was in with a serious chance of beating Marquez. Where will both their careers go from here?
Re: Tragedy For Katsidis
Murray late replacement?

Re: Tragedy For Katsidis
Murray would take the chance no problem but i doubt JMM would be interested in fighting an EBU champ at this stage of his career.
Re: Tragedy For Katsidis
as a late replacement though ? Who else would be in contention?

I suppose he could give up the belts and go for a big fight at 10st?
Re: Tragedy For Katsidis
This is sad news. Bizarrely, I was in the bookies the other morning and they were showing horse racing from Toowoomba and I immediately thought of Katsidis.
