The rumour locally was that the bloke they 'beat up' was threatening their mother and a right pain in the arse, so its not always as it seems.TheCobra wrote:No smoke without fire though? I think they seem okay.
Re: AWUKU V WALSH THIS SAT
Anyone bothered about this tonight? been very little build up for it!
Re: AWUKU V WALSH THIS SAT
Totally. This should be on an undercard somewhere, or perhaps a midweek fight. Not a Saturday headline.G0mez wrote:Appalling 'headliner'
I cant think of one that comes close.
Watching the first post fight interview, in all honesty, I just don't like them.

No, I mean a s amain event, it's poor. The total lack of interest on box rec is telling.I.CHAMPION wrote:whicker wrote:Totally. This should be on an undercard somewhere, or perhaps a midweek fight. Not a Saturday headline.G0mez wrote:Appalling 'headliner'

You do not know which broither is which so why would it matter who the main event waas? To you they are all the same. Whicker the Knob.
Re: AWUKU V WALSH THIS SAT
if he wins the title, does anyone think that warren would match him up with appleby?
if so i'd pick appleby to win
if so i'd pick appleby to win
Re: AWUKU V WALSH THIS SAT
With 7 rounds to go, this looks exactly as predicated. Walsh looks good, don't get me wrong there, but as a "title fight" it just lacks any appeal.
Re: AWUKU V WALSH THIS SAT
hmmmm. with 5 rounds to go I'd suggest Walsh just took a bit of a hiding in the last
bit of a turnaround that, Owuku has just awoken. Wonder if he'll keep it up?

Re: AWUKU V WALSH THIS SAT
Scores all widely to Walsh. One judge only felt Walsh lost one round.

Re: AWUKU V WALSH THIS SAT
yep, bad judging. Awuku won 6 & 7 without a doubt and I thought he took 9 as well, had it 117-111. Walsh fought pretty well in fairness, thought he lacked power, but maybe Awuku was granite.whicker wrote:Scores all widely to Walsh. One judge only felt Walsh lost one round.
Reckon Appleby would eat him.

Re: AWUKU V WALSH THIS SAT
Give the guy a break ffs.
For a guy with only 10 pro fights previous to this, he fought amazingly well for me. The opponent was a tough bugger who came to win. Awuku would give most super featherwights in Europe a tough nights work.
Walsh boxed smartly for the first half of the fight, then Awuku came on strong, but Walsh showed he can take a shot, handle the pressure and deal with the sitution. Well done for what is basically a novice. Compare that to tyson fury`s last fight against what was essentially a bar fighter and it puts it into perspective for me.
They seem like decent lads to me, especially the twins. I don`t really understand why people are on on their cases.
As for the older brother Mchael, he is wild and a bit cocky, but he did his job again and threw a great uppercut to knock a game man down. He has some power and is exciting to watch. Defense is shoddy though.

Re: AWUKU V WALSH THIS SAT
My 1st post, so go easy on me lads, im no expert just a big fight fan.
Thought it was a good fight, and Walsh was worth the win. Good chin on him too. Awuku brought more than expected but had that classic commonwealth brawler style that emerges from Africa.
I was more suprised he got the fight than anything else? Theres loads of decent super feathers out there and this lad was untested with 9 fights. Crolla, Jon Kays and a few others that arent in prizefighter could have come before him. Cant see that any of them would have turned the fight down.
I guess it comes down to tv dates and the selling point of 'three brothers'. Shame that really in such a classy division for the uk. I cant see him defending the title against a decent british operator.

Re: AWUKU V WALSH THIS SAT
His big, big problem is that he seems (purely on my first look last night) to have zero power in his shots. I'm sure some guys here have witnessed the stoppages he has on his record, which would suggest otherwise.
Is he a fly-swatter?

I think the brothers had 300-400 fans travel thru last nightBIGMARK wrote:I have never been a fan or taken much notice of the Walsh Brothers but last night they all impressed me. The York Hall really seemed to be rocking with some great support. Yes there are some things the brothers need to work on but they are a talented bunch and i look forward to seeing them next time they are out.

the gripe is more to do with this show being put on as a Saturday night main event.forcefraser wrote:Give the guy a break ffs.

I enjoyed the show a lot more than the joke that was the last Prizefighter.
Re: AWUKU V WALSH THIS SAT
I agree with that, at least it was 3 decent, well-schooled fighters who could box a bit. It certainly wasn't a cracking line-up for a Saturday headline, but I would take it over a rubbish prizefighter lineup. The next PF lineup looks pretty good though so am hoping it redeems itself a bit.forcefraser wrote:whicker wrote:the gripe is more to do with this show being put on as a Saturday night main event.forcefraser wrote:Give the guy a break ffs.
