Haye Insists He Will Fight BOTH The Klitschko's
WBA heavyweight champion David Haye is adamant that he 'will' fight both Klitschko brothers in the near future.
Haye has found himself in the firing line after failing to agree a bout against either of the Ukrainians this year, despite both camps insisting that there was a desire for the fights to happen.
Negotiations broke down because of a contract dispute, meaning that the pugilists had to look elsewhere to defend their heavyweight titles - Wladimir Klitschko faces Dereck Chisora in December, while Haye takes on Audley Harrison the previous month.
"But the big fights always, always happen - myself and the Klitschkos, it will happen," Haye told BBC Sport. "There's loads of banter back and forth - he's ducking me, I'm ducking him - but we will fight and they're getting knocked out, and once I do that all the hype beforehand becomes irrelevant.
"There's a lot more behind the scenes the fans aren't aware of. Boxers call each other out but when it comes to signing the contract and the money situation, the television rights, the venues, no-one hears about that.
"They just hear one fighter say they want to fight another fighter and assume that means the other person's going to turn up on the day. There's so much more to it than meets the eye. To understand it takes years of knowing the characters, the different lawyers involved, it's a complex, complex game

Re: Haye Insists He Will Fight BOTH The Klitschko's
Haye has already insisted numerous times that he will knock out both the Klitschkos. Same old banter.
Re: Haye Insists He Will Fight BOTH The Klitschko's
same old shyte from Gaye-maker......
Re: Haye Insists He Will Fight BOTH The Klitschko's
I remain a Haye fan, but he's managing to completely overlook the fact that he created this scenario in the first place by calling out the Klits and conveying the impression that he'd take them on under virtually any circumstances.FIGHTFANs wrote:There's a lot more behind the scenes the fans aren't aware of. I think a lot of it boils down to the fact that he and Adam Booth are learning all of this as they go along - they were naive in thinking they'd be able to avoid the 'complex, complex' aspects of the game and are just having to re-adjust as they go.

Typical Haye bollocks here, he'd have you believe there's actually people out there who think the Klitchkos are ducking Haye...and the truth is that no one thinks that at all, it's all about Haye avoiding the KlitchkosFIGHTFANs wrote:

Well I hope he hurries up & gets on with fighting them, because they are the ONLY fights that are warranted right now in the HW division.
Vitali is pushing 40 & Wladimir is well in his mid 30s too, even Haye is past 30 now, so they all need to hurry up & sort this out.

I am not going to get too over excited about this, we have heard it all before now for a while since he stepped up to heavy. It is about time he stopped talking and actually made something happen.
Come on Haye, make it happen as you are losing fans quickly.

Thats if he doesn't get dropped by Audley first.
I doubt it will happen though.

You know he will take them on, and we will get the "I told you so" speech. When it happens, let's just forget the bullshit and just get behind him just how we used to. He is our champion after all. We just love to hate.

Re: Haye Insists He Will Fight BOTH The Klitschko's
Hayes mandatory defense is by end of April and that will be against Ruslan Chagaev. Can't see Haye getting out of that to face one of the Klitschkos.
Plus Adamek is being touted as an opponent for one of the brothers in April.
If Haye does manage to fight a Klitschko, it will be the summer of 2011 at the earliest.

To call Haye average at heavy is laughable. Also if you told us "years ago" then no doubt you were one of those muppets claiming he would never even get past British level at cruiser weight. Re: Haye Insists He Will Fight BOTH The Klitschko's
Im suprised people honestly thinks he's scared to fight the klits and has no plans to fight them.
Im as frustrated as the next guy that after all the calling out he decided to take the Harrison fight.
Yeah he's ducked the klits but i can guarantee its not out of cowardice, its for money. He's took the route to get him a good negotiating position (WBA belt) then he's thought wait a minute i can make millions for what should be an easy nights work.
Haye knows as much as the rest of us that if one of the klits isnt his next fight then he will have lost all his credability, i cant see him making that mistake.
If he beats Harrison and then goes straight for the klits most of britain will be backing him and it will matter little in the big scheme of things that he took the easier more lucrative route, rather than the hard route. That could have ended with him beaten as a relative unknown for very little money, probably ending any chances of a high profile career.

So is he gonna vacate the WBA then? Or will they let him fight Chag after a potential 3 fights against the Klits?

If he fights the Klits, either of them, he will get killed. Sorry, I mean Kayoed.
Re: Haye Insists He Will Fight BOTH The Klitschko's
Haye has to be very careful with his gob sh*te nowadays as people are getting sick of it.
This interview was back in April and has the old 'I'm not interested in the money' line etc etc.
Britain's WBA heavyweight champion David Haye hopes to fight four more times before retiring in 2011.
But Haye, who stopped American John Ruiz in nine rounds in Manchester on Saturday, admitted he might only have time for three.
"I want to retire before I'm 31," 29-year-old Haye told BBC Sport.
"Four fights would be ambitious and I'd need to get cracking so the sooner we can get these fights (with Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko) sorted the better."
Haye hopes to fight either of the Klitschko brothers next as he bids to unify the heavyweight division, with Vitali holding the WBC belt and his brother Wladimir, the WBO, IBF and IBO titles.
And after selling out Manchester's MEN Arena for his first title defence, Haye says he would "love" to fight either of the Ukrainians at London's Wembley Stadium in front of 80,000 people.
That fight could reportedly be worth £10m to each fighter, although the Londoner says his legacy is the only incentive he has in boxing.
"Money doesn't really enter my head in terms of boxing," Haye told BBC Sport.
"All I focus on is being the best boxer I can be. Money is not the reason I want to fight the Klitschko brothers, I want to prove I am the best. By beating them money will follow but for me it's all about the legacy and the glory."
Haye, who has only lost once in 25 fights, added that he hoped to be known as the best British boxer of his generation and as "the man that fought the best possible guys in a short space of time and who always gave value for money."
Victory over both of the Klitschko brothers would elevate Haye's name alongside the greats of British boxing history but he believes he will never surpass the achievements of former undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis.
"I think Lennox Lewis, for what he did in boxing in dominating the division for so many years, should be known as the best," admitted Haye.
Haye said a fight with either of the Klitschko brothers was far from close to being agreed but believed either would be a "genuine grudge match" because they both despise him.
"They're the guys that hold other title belts, so in an ideal world I'd like to snatch their belts off them and add them to my mantle," he told BBC Sport.
"I want those big fights, I want the fights that the fans want to see.
"We're going to start sitting around the table. They've both got fights coming up, so once they've got their obligations out of the way, we'll sit down and thrash it out.
"Whenever we do get in the ring, it's going to be an amazing fight."

Re: Haye Insists He Will Fight BOTH The Klitschko's
I rewind back to when Haye first stepped up and fought at Heavyweight and rolled out the T-shirt with the Klits heads on etc and it was a breath of fresh air. But fast forward a couple of years and it's like a breath of fart now.
Yeah but, No but, Yeah but, No But - no wonder he is being mocked as Boxing's Vicky Pollard.
I'm a fan as I respected the fact that he was fighting the likes of Fragomeni in front of 2 men and his dog, then going to Paris on his vinnie jones to fight the division's #1. It was brilliant and refreshing to see a fighter just calling everyone out and then making it happen.
But it would seem since the appearances on Chatty man, hanging out with Khan on twitter, posting pics of his £100k mercedes wrapped around a lamp post - it just all of a sudden got very very tedious.
It 'feels' like the f*ck it attitude he once had, is totally diluted now with really chavvy Jordan-style social media 'Tweets' and bloody 'book signings' FFS.
What next a bloody iphone app?? oh wait - he's just brought one out and had a 'launch party'. Next thing he will be sending out videos of his celebrity friends in the gym watching him.
This creature is not the one I followed intently - he would never have fought Audley Harrison, never ever. Its a horrible cynical fight and after he has demolished him, everyone will say, how come we fell for the patter that Audley was gonna go for it??
Fact is, now Haye has a chunk of change in his pocket and some sort of Hello magazine image going on, this is it now for ever.
And amidst all of that glitz, it's now appearing that many of the fans of his have soured on him.
And if/when he does fight a Klitschko, many may be thinking the intelligent, friendly brothers will be doing the public a big favour by wiping him out.
I will cheer him as I always do - but I can plainly see why many will not do anymore.
