Hopefully, he can use this and see what he needs to do to get a title. Really think he should look at knocking the bin round on the head, especially with the public sector cuts. If he's picking up an extra £100k (ish) each year from boxing then he can't expect someone who's just got the round to lose his job at his expense
Kick a man when he's down eh??

just lost his dream world title fight and now you tell him he shouldn't have a job. harsh

Seriously doubt there'll be much left of his 100k by the time he gets back home.
 true. He's had a couple of fights this year so probably earnt around the £100k mark in the last 12-18months.

don't think they'd fight each other, think they said that anyway??
i think i read something in the build up that Munroe was playing down how close they are so he might fancy it

Clean hard punching & ring generalship mate... TN not only outboxed him he landed the bigger punches, repeatedly hurt Munroe, never looked troubled wtih RM's power. I don't give people rounds for sentimental reasons, so I can't see that Munroe took more than two rounds off him, to be honest.

ah, didn't hear that. It'd be a good fight. Munroe would have one helluva size advantage. Always thought Booth would have been better down a weight but I guess the opportunities came up at SuperBantam.

I really don't like Jorge Linares.

Was so chuffed when Salgado flattened him. He's fought nothing but tiny old blokes & useless South American journeymen forever.

If he was British, feck knows how much stick he'd get as his competition is vile...

Chavez is about a thousand years old & Linares still just safety-firsts his way to victory. Compassionate pull-out from Chavez's corner.

I cannot wait until someone lands one flush on his chiselled jaw & puts his lights out again.

it was the hard body shots that had munroe worried , without question , id never seen the guy before , but imo if your gonna stop munroe , you need to do exactly what nishioka did , he worked the body really well , i think if there was maybe another round id have been wondering if monroe would get stopped , nothing being taken away from rendall , who i think gave everything he had , just couldnt live with those body shots

Commendable effort by Rendall Munroe this morning. He never really looked out of his depth, Nishioka had just that bit too much ring nous for him, along with being the slicker of the two. Many fighters would've crumbled under some of the shots Munroe took.

Against a different champion at a different location, it could've well been different.

Put Munroe in against a very unimpressive Molitor a few weeks back, on home soil, and you'd probably be looking at Rendall Munroe as a world champion right now.

"unimpressive"

Munroe took a beating tonight I can't see how you can say he would have beat Molitor.

I can't see how you feel Munroe took a beating. He was outclassed, but he never took a hiding of any sort.

Booth was on top of Molitor for around the first 5/6 rounds, then he ran out of gas. Munroe wouldn't of gassed like that.

Munroe would struggle against the likes of Vazquez Jr in the division, but he'd give an on-the-wane Molitor a very good fight.

I'm not even a big fan of Munroe, but he did ok for me this morning. Especially considering he was up against the no.1 in the division.

While I kinda see where you're coming from (basically that Celestino Caballero fvcked Steve Molitor up beyond all repair) I worry that Rendall's awful half-step at a time footwork & slow reactions might get him outboxed again vs the Canuck.

Although one things for sure, Rendall won't have to worry about getting nailed like Nishioka just did to him. Molitor cannae punch for feck.

I'd give him more of a chance as I think Molitor's looking a little shop-worn these days, but once he got going and woke up, Booth wasn't in their fight and looked a good 2 divisions smaller.

Munroe's workrate also dipped alarmingly after 4-5 rounds and he stopped doubling & tripling the jab and forcing him back, which allowed him to get his straight left out the toolkit and he took back over. I've no idea why he didn't start throwing any sort of left hand other than the straight until very late in the fight, he was wide open for the left hook both upstairs and down very early on.

I find it hard to give Munroe a clear edge in any rounds other than 2-3, but he boxed well, he was just up against a more seasoned, skilled and experienced world operator - Probably the best at his weight.

Munroe's lack of pop and speed is always going to hold him back slightly, particularly at this level and if you don't throw volume or accurately you've really got nothing to win you rounds.

In todays Indie he said he relies on the day job to live on now and puts all the boxing money away for later life.

The score although correct does not reflect the fight. There were many close rounds that the champ nicked, RM did very well against a true lgit champion who has been at top flight for a decade.

There are still many fights out there for RM and although given a bit of a lesson I did not think he took a career ending beating at all.

I thought that after the 4th Rendall might really do it he had Nishioka gasping and was definitely uncomfortable under the pressure he was under in that round. Like a true champion though he came back in the 5th with those hurtful shots just when it really mattered

Nishioka danced and picked his shots well and was able to blunt Munroes late surge by those hurtful bodyshots earlier on. Munroe did well but his footwork wasnt what it could have been and he needed to make much more of an effort to cut off the ring. I think he was made wary by those shots in the 5th

I think he would have stood a very good chance against Molitor Maloney needs to get him over here again.

sounds like nishioka is in his stride as champ, right now. not seen the fight, but he beat a very worthy contender. good to see nishioka fighting something other than old mexicans - rendall is a good, fit fighter in his prime. hopefully the japanese fighter can get a big name, like perhaps fernando montiel.

Go easy on Montiel, he's got Donaire in Feb and would be contesting for a title at his fourth weight!

that's why the fight could happenb - because nishioka is known as a mexican killer, and montiel will want a 4th title, win, lose or draw vs donaire.

but i'll go easy on montiel as he's hurt himself in a motorbike accident.

Very impressed with Nishioka so quick on his toes and his combo's were so fast it made a tired Munroe cover up. I said he was taking to many shots to the body from an early stage but he stood tall and battled hard.

Anyone else think Nishioka has a similar style to Pacman?

Thought Rendall did well-Anyone think he could still become a world champ? Maybe if he could fight one of the other champions?

i wouldn't give up hope. it took nishioka 5 tries to win a title, and nishioka certainly looked out of his league in his first ever world title fight (vs one of thailand's best stylists of recent times, veeraphol).

i wonder what next for nishioka? he's faced the top mexican contenders, he's beaten the mando who'd won 2 elims (munroe). now what's the next step? teikken are lining something big up for hasegawa again (last time, losing to montiel, next: featherweight title fight vs burgos). will the japanese promoters give nishioka the fancy treatment, bringing in a rival champ or a big name? i really think they should use montiel (smaller man) to build nishioka. is there any point fighting ryol li lee (poonsawat conqueror, tied up in rematch clauses with poonsawat) or vazquez jr (who took about 8 rds longer than nishioka to stop ivan hernandez). is molitor well enough regarded (non-starter - the japanese don't recognise molitor's title). clearly TN's a classy fighter with a great repertoire of shots, probably is the best fighter fighting out of asia after wonjongkam, and is surely japan's biggest puncher. hopefully things happen for him - in a big way.
