Off the top of my head, Froch-Kessler is the best fight I have this year.

on the world scene, i'd say giovanni segura vs ivan calderon. it was an important fight, and it was a tremendous battle, with segura forcing calderon into the trenches early, calderon landing some tremendous shots but hating the pace, and segura grinding down the modern puerto rican great in agiant sized ring in puerto rico.

David Price v Pavol Polakovic :D

I think the Froch v Kessler fight is a good call.

Ricky Burns against Martinez was a cracker as well.

Kessler vs Froch is a tad overated in my opinion, nothing much happened in the first half of the fight. End aspect was pretty brutal but far too little too late for Froch. Never thought Froch was ever close to stopping Kessler aside from the cut.

Burns vs Martinez or Cleverly vs Murat were better fights for me involving a British fighter. Clev vs Murat might have been too one sided but it was an exceptional, if not flawless, performance and I was on the edge of my seat (until the last round or so when it was more obvious the snap was gone from Murat).

I like the Burns shout, but between two domestic operators I really enjoyed Hall-Power, mainly for the heart Power showed.

cleverly v murat was really ferocious, and even though the welshman won most of the rounds he was eating massive shots. so it qualifies as a proper british set thriller to me. really worthy european title fight. from the same show chisora-sexton 2 was a very good double title fight (british and commonwealth), though of course nowhere near the same pace as cleverly-murat.

i also like crolla v morris. very intense and skilled, with crolla using superb timing and left hooks to overcome the fierce bursts that came from morris. that was a job well done, superb offensive skills from crolla who had to play catchup forcing the stoppage. the standard of that fight was well above what i expected of english, and often british, level.

Crolla-Morris is a good shout. Morris-Sykes too. Burns-Martinez for me was the best so far. Anyone see Maxwell-Wilson? That was some fight!

BIGMARK wrote:The Burns fight for me as it had all the things i love about boxing: a man rising to the occasion, underdog goes down early to come back taking it to the heavy handed champion, fantastic atmosphere and a real edge of your seat fight as it seemed Ricky could of been KO'd out at any moment.
Totally agree. The drama, action, heart, atmosphere, the big underdog coming from a bad first round knockdown to seal the title. And what a nice guy too. It was brilliant. The reason why I love boxing. :box:

Burns-Martinez is up there as well. Forgot about that one. Cleverly-Murat was ok, but Clev won almost every round. Not competitive enough for me.
