Commonwealth Title

I tend to see the Commonwealth belt as a stepping stone towards the British and European titles actually as some fighters tend go for the Commonwealth belt first before going for the British title, as I know that Darren Barker won the Commonwealth Middleweight strap before going for the Lonsdale belt and Sam Sexton did the same when he had those two great wars with Martin Rogan en route to fighting Derek Chisora on the Magnificent 7 Bill.

Just a stepping stone to British nowadays, when in reality it SHOULD be on par or even exceeding the European belt. But like someone mentioned above, the geographical distance between the UK, Aus, Canada and S. Africa means it's pointless to make those fights as they won't generate enough money to cover the costs.

Its a shame that Australians and Canadians don't get more involved in fighting for the Commonwealth belt. Vea-Siale was an absolutely awesome fight earlier this year (up on Youtube for those who haven't, not to be missed!), they certainly looked like they cared about it anyway judging by the sheer brutality of the fight!

Its a shame its viewed as a level below the British nowadays, I guess it was bound to happen with the shrinking of the Commonwealth over the years. You never knew, the Commonwealth belt may unearth some African gems soon enough, even if it takes 10s of unworthy challengers to get there.

Still well worth keeping IMO.
