This time next year britain could easily have no champs or could just as easilly have 6 .gav-laa82 wrote:I cant see any of our current world champs loosing there crowns to soon i.e KHAN, HAYE, BURNS........ but who do you think will have joined them by this time next year??????? cleverly? brook? frotch(regain)? murray? rhodes? macklin? mitchell? or even chisora???? Haye , Khan and burns are certainly not untouchable , on the other hand Froch , Cleverly and Brook are definately within touching distance of a title .
Seriosly dont see Chisora beating Wlad , Mitchell & Rhodes i feel wont be in the world title picture just yet maybe another couple of wins needed to push them back up , Murray could still be too green in terms of fighting at that level and im on the fence with Macklin as sometimes i look at him and think he should win a world title , other times i dont think he has a prayer so jury is still out on him imo
Re: THIS TIME NEXT YEAR WHO WILL BE THE BRITISH WORLD CHAMPS!
good reply the 3 with the titals could easaly come unstuck in there next fights , i think clev and murray are my bets to have titles of some sort this time next year and mayby kel brook if warren can make find a welterweight with a belt willing to fight a unown (in america at least) but brook could well go on to be the best of the bunch! :box:

if murray signs with warren when his contract finishes with hennesy then he'll definetly get a shot at a world title.
Re: THIS TIME NEXT YEAR WHO WILL BE THE BRITISH WORLD CHAMPS!
Who's Burns?
If you're counting interim belts, then Cleverly will definitely pick one up. Brook might pick-up the WBO belt if Pacquiao vacates his belt and they spoon-feed Brook a bum, which they probably will. I don't think Froch regains a belt next year, possible, but I'm betting against it. I don't really think Macklin picks-up a belt next year.

I'd actually fancy Kell Brook in with somebody like Berto, but WW is a very tough cookie to crack.
Cleverly could win one, but i'd be looking at that being more towards the end of the year, not sure who he would be best of facing for a title in a strong division at the top end.
Murray needs exposure before he'll get a shot, he needs to face a decent name opponent in his next fight really.
I think Rendall Munroe will win a Worldy if he gets a shot next year, i'd fancy him with the other chams at that weight.

Re: THIS TIME NEXT YEAR WHO WILL BE THE BRITISH WORLD CHAMPS!
As others have said, it really depends on who the top guys fight in the next year.
- Burns is a nice story and he fights in an extremely weak division, but he'll need some interesting matchmaking to remain a champion long.
- I think Khan beats Maidana and it might be a while before he can line up a tough unification fight, so I think he will remain champion for the next year.
- Cleverly is fighting a C-level opponent in his first interim defense, and Braehmer doesn't seem all that interested in fighting him for the full WBO title, so he may have soft opposition for a while.
- Haye could also continue avoiding the K brothers, and if he does, he will likely remain champion through next year. Adamek, who I think could give him a go, is only ranked 10th by the WBA
- Brook is ranked #1 and Mike Jones is ranked #2 for the WBO welterweight title. That would be an interesting match, but the WBO, like the other alphabet turds, have been willing to put up #1s against much lower ranked opponents for open titles, so such a matchup is far from a given.
- I think Abraham v Froch is going to be an amazing fight, but I think Abraham prevails. Froch may not get another shot within the year.
- Macklin, IMO, could beat Sylvester or Zbik for titles at middleweight, but I'm not sure if their safety-first German promoters would take a chance on them fighting someone who can punch.
- Munroe, IMO, would certainly have a shot at beating Molitor or Lee, but he's not even ranked by their alphabet organizations.
- Ryan Rhodes vs Bundrage for the IBF junior middleweight belt would be a war and really fun to watch. IMO Rhodes would be a live underdog

Herbie Hide!
Hes been WBC Mando for about 3 years!
If Magee gets his shot at Sartison he could technically be champ although it wouldnt be a real version. Really worrying about Rhodes shot as 2 or 3 undeserving Mexicans were whacked in front of him, he'll prob been down to WBC No.10 by next year, not sure on his ratings with the other bodies.
Could Hatton get Foster Jr. a shot next year? maybe
2012 will be a more profitable year for Brits winning World Titles than 2011 IMO.

Rendall munroe will come back from his loss alot stronger. I think it will make him train even harder and wen he returns hell defend his european belt 2/3 times then mayybe go for wba/ibf or maybe a rematch for the wbc ?

Macklin will win a world title long before the likes of Barker. But your right about McCloskey,Hatton and Rhodes i reckon they wil be found wanting at the top.jessi wrote:ha ha, forget mcCloskey, M.Hatton, Rhodes, Macklin, Magee, but add Barker, and Murray, possibly even mitchell.robpalmer135 wrote:Haye

Re: THIS TIME NEXT YEAR WHO WILL BE THE BRITISH WORLD CHAMPS!
ok realistically i can see david haye still being champ, chisora will lose, herbie hide will probably get his shot and win, then at light heavy i think cleverley is going to get it, as will froch at super middle, the winner of smith vs degale will probably have wbo interim or full title next year, and at middle i believe macklin will win the IBF portion whilst Barker will probably be in a position to challenge for a wbc. At light middle i can see rhodes having a decent chance at a vacant wbc rICshot. At welterweight Brook will have a title next year for sure, and i also wouldnt rule out a mathew hatton, junior witter or ashley theopane having one. I reckon witter could beat berto, whilst the other 2 could beat the wba and ibf champs if given shots, hatton more than likely will get his shot. at Light welter Khan will still be champ, with the possible addition of ajose olusegun or paul mcloskey although i cant see them winning sa portion if given a shot. Frankie Gavin would also be closing in on a title. down at lightweight I believe john murray will get his shot and win it, and im even backing Gavin rees to possibly get one. Ricky burns will fight bums or british fighters so that will title will remain in britain, and i think at the weight below martin lindsay could gather a portion of the title. Jason Booth or rendall munroe should have another shot against retsuri lee or vasquez jr next year and are well capable of beating them. I believe on will get a shot and then theyll fight one another and the weights below that i cant see anyone getting a title within 12 months.
so if all goes to plan there could be in the region of 12 british world champs

McCloskey - Will have won the vacant WBC
Burns - Will still be defending
Munroe - Maloney will get him Molitor
Chisora - Will lose to Wlad

I cant see khan losing to ortiz. or magee trying to unify, rhodes losing an elimainator is probably correct as he is the everlasting nearly man. disagree with murray losing eliminator, and dont think mcloskey going to win wbc unless he fights olusegun

Re: THIS TIME NEXT YEAR WHO WILL BE THE BRITISH WORLD CHAMPS!
When jamie Mcdonnell beats Malik Bouziane who got a draw in his last fight for the IBF title he could well be on course to challenge for a world title at bantam.
He as not got a mention above but hes been a surprise package this year been in a good little fight with nappa and come on leaps and bounds since going abroad and beating a world title challanger for the European title then having a quick defence.
Just recently come back from Miami were he has been sparring world champs and Cuban Olympic gold medelests this has put him in good stead his confidence is sky high the next 12 months could be very interesting for this young man.

Re: THIS TIME NEXT YEAR WHO WILL BE THE BRITISH WORLD CHAMPS!
Ortiz has a big enough punch to KO Khan and isn't as predicatble as Maidana.kamicazze wrote:I cant see khan losing to ortiz. or magee trying to unify, rhodes losing an elimainator is probably correct as he is the everlasting nearly man. disagree with murray losing eliminator, and dont think mcloskey going to win wbc unless he fights olusegun
Magee pretty much has a deal in place to fight Bute in Canada if he beats Sartison.
I just don't think Murray is world level.
McCloskey will get the winner of Olusegun vs Chebah.
Re: THIS TIME NEXT YEAR WHO WILL BE THE BRITISH WORLD CHAMPS!
ortiz will not land on khan, khan stopped him as an amateur and he will stop him again. Magee wont fight bute if he wins, hell have a couple of easy defences. Bute would mess him up though. If paulus moses is world level, ricky burns is world level then im sure john murray is. Ok he wouldnt beat marquez, but vasquez and acosta are easy wins for murray and i would say him against kastidis would have potential for fight of the year and i would not like to pick a winner. Gavin rees deserves a mention

Haye - Loses to the Klitschko's if he fights them, will still be a champion if not
Chisora - Loses to Wlad
Cleverly - Can see him beating Shumenov and Braehmer
Froch - Think he loses to Ward but depending on the ABCs could easily get another shot before the year is out
Magee - Don't think he gets the shot
Macklin - Think he could win the IBF/WBA
Rhodes - Think he could fight for and win the WBA or WBC if Pac vacates
M.Hatton - Don't think he gets the shot
Brook - Loses if he fights Jones but can see him getting an easier opponent for the title
Khan - Think he beats Maidana and unifies
McCloskey - Don't think he gets the shot
Murray - Think he wins a title
Burns - Think he'll lose it next year
Munroe - Think he'll fight and beat Molitor
Two other outside shouts at world titles - Steve Foster and Alex Arthur.
Can see Warren matching Burns with Arthur and Super Feather ain't a great division so could see Foster getting a shot, maybe against Fana
Chisora - Loses to Wlad

sorry robpalmer135 i dident realise you said "have world title fights" in that case your list is probably right, i still think macklin is over rated ! i honestly believe barker has a much better boxing brain and there for am backing him to win a clash between the two or a world championship title first.
