Smigga wrote:Correct there Hurlock. There was talk of me boxing him in a Contender team vs UK team of mine. With greatest respect to Sam that was the only difference to him when he was on top - punch resistance. He was still extremely fit. Trained like an animal. Too much at times.
it's known he is a gym freak & loves killing himself. he was advised by the expert's on his training as he would burn through muscle where he had nothing else to burn.
he was at the peacock for a while. & roy couldnt m,atch him for love nor money.

I think it was the best Contender series after the original.

Seems to have gone off the radar now, but would love to see another series of old warriors vs young blood again.

of the record smigga, what is spurring you on for the fight with degale??? you wanted to move fwd & are now facing a fresh prospect, which is obviously rewarding.

it will be intresting to see chunky hit up the belly proper after 6rds.

Don't you love them "off the record" questions on a public internet forum from a person you've never met

ok i take it this hurlock has never boxed. in this instance the motivation is clear, silence the doubters. Many believe that smith is a stepping stone for degale, and smiths motivation is to prove these guys wrong. It isnt rocket science, its boxing.

And the Money of course!

I hope he does silence those doubters. I think that if Degale looses this fight then i doubt it will do much to harm his career in the long run, it will certainly be a good learning fight for him.

Bomber 1 wrote:Styles don't trouble Paul and I would have fancied him to beat Soliman as he's only awkward, I think him and Codrington would be a shootout and Bika would be a trench war, I wouldn't write Paul off against anyone I really mean that, I watched him go to the wire with with both Pascal & Dirrell and even though it was the am's they both fight with the exact same style they did even then!! Paul fights to the level of the opponent and come December 11th I have a got feeling that Britian is gonna see the best of Paul Smith... :TU:
So Dirrell used to run away in the amateurs as well did he :D

Smith is a good fighter but gets WAY too much of the spotlight on here..

...but in fairness on reading the whole thread he's always pretty honest, admitting Bika would have been too much at time.

Indulging the thread for a moment I'd agree he's have been beaten by roughhouse Bika and had too much for Codrington and Soliman..

bit harsh hookie aint it...not brown nosing, however Paul offers himself here to the boxrec community and is respectful and replies in adecent manner even in the face of provocation.

Its human nature to like someone who is decent back to you in most cases.

You dont find me slating you either, thats cos we have repectful discord on here, Paul is no different boxer or not.

If he acted like a nob id say so but he doesnt so yeah its nice to have conversation with someone who is a very good boxer...dont see anything wrong with that.

I would have to agree as the guy who started this quite openly states he doesn't like Smith and makes an effort to stir things up a bit. There are people who like Smith and their are people who aren't. I like him and always have, if that makes me a brown noser then what the hell I am. Whats the issue with being a fan of a fighter and wishing them well. Smigga speaks the truth and despite his critics, still comes on here for abuse sometimes. Get over it Hook its a boxing forum.

I think he would have lost to all 3

Smoth has nothing on his record for me to suggest otherwise. All 3 would represent the best he has fought in his career

Lest we forget, Jaidon almost iced the rockhard Bika with one shot in the 1st round of the final. This guys power was legit and he is a natural 168lber. Smith doesnt have the best defence I think he stops him.

Bika has already been covered and Soliman would just out hustle and outwork him. All in my opinion of course

What do you mean "get over it" I only said he gets a lot of the spotlight, which he does, about 50% more than any other British champ on Boxrec!

And then Paul Smith himself replies to me telling me he doesn't get too much of the spotlight

I never said you started the thread Smigga, just your fans/stalkers on here :)

No harm in that, but you say even the slightest thing about Smith and you get short shrift, or at least an attempt is made like our old pal here with less than 200 posts who wisely tells me it's "a boxing forum". I'm aware of that, I've been posting for years on a variety of topics from Carnera to Chisora :TU:

I Happen to like Smith and said below my post he is a good fighter and I respected his honesty about Bika. I've even paid out to watch him ringside....

No harm in giving my opinion....it's all boxing :)
