Haye v Harrison: November 13th - Your plans
So lads, we are just over 2 weeks away from the big fight. Just thought I'd start a thread on how you guys plan to go about your day? Am particularly interested in those of you attending the fight, like myself but would be interested in a bit of an insight into a true boxing fans day also.
Me: Watch Man United v Villa at 12.45pm in London. Hop on the train with my mate to Manchester enjoying several beers. Arrive around 6pm. Taxi to hotel, beers in busy Manchester bar near the Arena. Get to Arena about 8pm, watch Hall v Davies fight and then for the big one!!
Afterwards: nightclub then try to find somewhere screening Manny Pacquiao v Margareto.

Re: Haye v Harrison: November 13th - Your plans
Good topic!
I have my sons (aged 5 and 3) every weekend so my plan is thus: wear them out Saturday morning/afternoon doing father-son things and get them tired, fed, ready for bed - nice and early. Then they can watch TV a little later than usual etc etc etc
Then they either fall asleep upstairs or will be allowed, just once, to stay up and watch the fioghts with me - but they will both drop-off long before Haye and Harrison are making their way to the ring
Then, I intend to have my brother and a couple of mates round (split the PPV costs) and watch the fight with some pizza and a beer or two.
Bit of a treat for me - haven't had any PPV boxing in a couple of years, and barely get to watch ANY fights live these days. Making a bit of an exception and an "event" here... because if nothing else this fight HAS captured the imagination!
:-)

Sounds like a plan mate!! Even though the fight is likely to be one-sided the day should be great and even the sceptics will be excited come 13th Nov!!T.M.K wrote:Good topic!

My workmates think I'm mad.... I just did a gut-buster laugh after saving the coffee which almost got spat out across the room!

I'm just trying to work out the mechanics of the day and see if I can avoid having to drive back home after, which means I can drink.
Re: Haye v Harrison: November 13th - Your plans
Train up to Manchster early doors with Wilko.

Catch the tram to Bury. Few pints and watch Bury Vs Stockport in a League 2 clash of the titans
Then out on the beers in Manc. Watch the fight at the MEN and back out on the ales ending up having a Chinese.

Im at the Echo Arena covering the GB box-offs. Debating whether to leave after the 69kg finals as no other Scousers will be involved following that.

Give my wife a birthday card and take her and the kids out for lunch.
Remind her that I'm going to some boxing which will unexpectedly destroy her plans.
Employing a cross-armed defence, soak up punishment before speeding away like the coward I am.

Re: Haye v Harrison: November 13th - Your plans
It's my mates stag do down in Brighton the night before, so will be waking up feeling like absolute shit I expect.
Nov 13th also happens to be my birthday (many happy returns to Mrs McNeilly), and so am travelling back up to London and heading straight to Twickenham to watch England v Australia. This will no doubt involve getting absolutely steaming.
Then when the rugby is done, heading back to the flat with friends in tow, spend some quality time with the lady and good friends, and enjoy an evening of boxing! Lucky that it's my birthday really, otherwise I would be upstairs in the bedroom watching the boxing up there on my own, rather than enjoying it with everyone else. The girlfriend isn't really into boxing, and so it's a little treat for me to be able to enjoy it so openly!

Catch a bus to Manchester, go Hogshead - watch the fight for free - count my winnings (mentally) & don't mention them to the Mrs.

Re: Haye v Harrison: November 13th - Your plans
Plans for a big british fight night, BEFORE I met Mrs keithmoonhangover.
Out on the drink in Sunderland at 7PM, pints, brandy's and several lines of toot. Drop into a pub where the manager is a boxing fan. More drinks, more toot, watch fight. Fight finishes, late drinks in pub, then clubbing, then hopefully pull a stunner.
Next day: Wake up either alone or with girl that is not the stunner I saw with the beer goggles on
. Feel rough all day, but watch the fight again on replay.

Sofa, tea, curry, fight on TV.
Next day: Work. :(
