seems that theres a few descent fighters here in notts not getting the exposure or fights and froch had similar issues with it in the past too .

Jav was a guy i knew of but hadnt seen him fight before until around a year ago , and seems he was a descent fighter , but from what i gather he quit at just the right time as he had pretty much reached his level , adnan amar could still go further but lets be honest hes not took too many tough fights .

I thought McIntosh would be a descent fighter , maybe not quite british title level but not far off , shame he seems to have gone off the radar , another descent notts prospect that seems inactive is 4-0 lightweight Eddie O'Rourke .

Curtis Valentine aint bad but suffered a tough start to his career i reckon , be interesting to see how he develops , theres also Karl Chiverton in the northern half of notts , up at Mansfield , 10-1-1 record but not currently active .

Why is it a city that seems to have huge potential in generating fighters of all levels seems to be stalling at the moment , theres a lot of interest locally in MMA could that have a bearing , cos if the boxers cant sell the tickets easily enough could it have a bearing on how active they are , then again , white collar shows in notts sell out , so theres boxing fans willing to part with hard earned money , maybe we just need a couple of carl froch like personalities to drag a few in and kick start the city , as seems like Jason Booth is the only one outside of Froch thats causing any interest .

Mr T.. wrote:jav, was a decent fighter and was on the fringe of world class. He was rated in the top 10 of the Independent bodies at the time.

I was speaking with him at time and was due to fight the late Vernon Forrest who had beaten mosley twice. They were close to agreeing terms and DPK intervened and Mayorga defeated Forrest and fight didnt come off. Was a shame really.

He also beat Tak and should have fought James Hare. Sadly that fight was never made.
thats about the nearest to the truth....him and hare were never going to fight, same management and training teams.....the forrest fight was nearly done deal but didnt quite come off.....australia was never mentioned....and sadly he drifted away as he was very expensive to put on....8 IBO title fights put him in top 10 in anyones book....real nice guy.

i agree on the nottitngham front. nathan mcintosh however only ever had 4 amateur fights. I have sparred a guy at the same gym as valentine and booth by the name of barrington brown and that guy hits like a bomb. Loses his head when it comes to fights though. Rumour is tony harris the trainer is going to take matters in to his own hands and run his own show.

Was his win over Takaloo early in his career a KO or a injury Stoppage?

As soon as I saw the thread, I thought ah yeah he burst Tak's bubble and beat Bergman...then I looked at his record to see where he ended up and couldn't see the Tak fight. I thought I'd imagined it...then thought maybe I was thinking about Tak and Anas Oweida.

I actually googled it after saying it was legit, and found it on youtube. Good fight!

Just watched the Tak fight, and can't get much more of an emphatic ending. The joys of YouTube.

I don't remember much about it, just that Tak was highly touted. Some of the comments on there say that Khaliq took the fight on short notice (a day?) which is pretty good going if so.

yeah my brothers girlfriend michelle baron trains at same place as barrington and she speaks very highly of him but when ive seen him fight ive wondered what shes on about , his record says that too , but im told he seems to take fights on short notice a lot so maybe the journeyman route will be where his career goes .
As for tony harris doing a show , hes got enough fighters under him to do so , some which id be intererested in watching so id go to it i reckon , although other than booth wouldnt you say tyrone wright is possibly his biggest name , booth will have obligations to maloney so therfor a show headlined by tyrone will only be small hall , small hall shows rarely make much money if any .
