On a similar note, whose next for Jason Cook. It was a very commendable performance by Jason coming off such a long lay off (I'm not sure how effective a prizefighter tournament is for getting rid of the cobwebs). Most thought Daws was the rightful winner, but they should rematch.

Has Jason called it a day again?

Well if Daws beats Theophane, he will have earnt his Lonsdale Belt.

Theophane's movement will prove a problem for Daws. Lenny will have to be super sharp on the night.

I'd say they are both at the peak of their powers now and it's a fanstastic match up.

Morden's Lenny Daws defends his British light-welterweight title against wandering Kilburn minstrel Ashley Theophane in an all-London showdown in December.
This is a good match, featuring the strong, remorseless Daws against the slick, quick Theophane, both of them distance fighters, both right at their peak. Daws, 31, won the title last year at York Hall with a revenge win over Scotland's Barry Morrison in 10 rounds, the only man to beat him in 24 outings, and has since retained twice. Theophane, 30, flits between here and mainland Europe and even the United States for work, and he performs admirably wherever he is, often in world class.
Theophane must start as the favourite but he lacks promotional backing or big support, hence his away-days, and the popular Daws enjoys those advantages, his every punch on the night earning an "oh, good shot!" from promoter Mick Hennessy and a roar from an army of fans. Such things make a difference if it is close.
Nevertheless, Theophane throws a ton of shots, and it is hard to see Daws catching up with him in the championship rounds as he does so many of his opponents. I fancy Theophane to take the points and the title.
