As someone put in another thread, i'll be more sure of the outcome when i see how Audley walks to the ring.
Was me and in fact I think that you will see Audley start to lose it before that. As the fight gets closer, he'll be getting nervous and the self doubt will creep in. I think we'll see that at the weigh in.
Haye doesn't even have to go looking for Audley...just watch the opening seconds of the Ruiz fights where he drops him...no risk taking, just a quality shot. It wasn't even a real 'power' shot - his natural power will be far too much for poor old 39 year old, 4 time beaten (by domestic level fighters) Harrison!
Has HAYE really proven anything at Heavyweight?
Valuev. I think he lost.
Barrett. Monty was way past his best ad lost to Solis in 2 rounds. And managed a draw with a way past his best TUA.
Ruiz. Way past his best and inactive for almost 3 years.
All those fights went long. IF Audley really turns up HAYE will struggle.
OK well let's spin it around the other way. What's Audley proven at heavyweight?
Rogan. Lost to a taxi driver
Sprott. Fast asleep in three rounds then behind on all the cards before landing in the last round
Williams. Lost
Dominic Guinn. Lost
Valuev, Barrett well past his best and Ruiz (who may have been past his best and inactive but had only been stopped once and had very good chin and was on his backside in ten seconds) - these guys are all miles better than anyone Harrison has fought and lost to.
Audley will be out of there in three rounds at best.

Haye might have not done much, but Audley has done a lot less over a greater period of time!!
Audley has done nothing, absolutely nothing to have the faith of so many people who should know better!
You might say that Haye hasn't done much but he's comfortably beaten fighters who, even if not at their best, are in a different league than anyone Harrison has fought and lost to.
It's nothing like an equal fight and I can't believe genuine boxing fans believe it's anything other than a mismatch. Not that I'm not looking forward to it like...I can't wait!

I don't think many people think it's an equal fight, just that there's a certain amount of intrigue in it.
I'm a Haye fan, and I think he will win comfortably, but there's always that niggling little 'What if Audley lands that bomb?' in the back of my mind.
I think some of this 'delusion' is just boxing fans giving in and allowing themselves to get caught up in the hype, its not everyday the wider general public become involved in a fight so I think people are just trying to enjoy the event, I'm sure deep down all boxing fans know what type of fight will transpire. Certainly there is no solid argument for Audley apart from 'he packs a punch, anything can happen!'
The event and build up will be great, the fight will be pretty sad and this will only cause more damage to the task or getting more people involved in boxing, how many casual fans will come back and buy more PPVs if they see a one sided 2 round blow out? Not that many I'd imagine.
I agree I think it's great boxing is going to be getting some serious coverage over the next couple of weeks but I just hope it doesn't end up in a farce. I want to see a great fight, I just can't see it happening that way but I guess stranger things have happened.
Actually, the more I read the pro-Audley posts about his ability to hold a shot, the thread title is spot on....some fans ARE deluded .
The fact Audley may not have been down often or stopped often, is because he is shit scared to take a punch. Haye puts himself at risk far more often.
If you've got a dodgy chin, then you work around it, and that's fine, but let's not start trying to make out Fraudly takes a good shot. He's been rattled time and again by boxers who are not fit to box beyond British level.
Counter-puncher wrote:good point- ruiz smashed someone up on the haye - Valuev U/C didn't he? that was lolworthy. watching John Ruiz tee off with power shots. brilliant.
Yep an agressive Ruiz, definitely a collectors item
I'd just reliably informed all my mates that Ruiz was guaranteed to stink the house out, and was unlikely to throw more than 10 punches a round, all of them jabs, too

It always makes me laugh when people on herer use examples of fights that people won as examples of their failures and then write - i think he lost that fight. (if a guy aka valuev doesnt land a punch he cant win a round - FACT)
Plus the Barrett fight didnt go long it ended in 5 rounds and barrett was knocked down how many times. The ruiz fight went to 9 but he was on his arse 4 or 5 times in that fight too.
Fact is if Harrison really turns up then he would be good enough to beat any heavy weight. Problem is we have never seen this mythical potential world domination audley harrison that people once thought might (and may yet still) exist.
every time hayes been down his got up to win, that tells me he has a good chin and a heart of a lion, his loss to carl thompson was because he drained his energy early, he learnt from it and now look at him, of course audley has a punchers chance but so does anyone in the ring, audleys in for the beating of his life and behind the yes i can brave smiles he keeps showing us he knows it !
sendo wrote:One thing that worries me here is Haye feeling under pressure to put Harrison away with a big ko. Sprott walked right into that big shot by going for it in the last round when he didn't need to.
.....that is very good point.I hope audley gives it a proper go, its for the world title, so why am i worried he will hold and back up ??because thats what he does!Come on Audley, lets see you back up all the talk, just once...Haye to win within 8 rounds.
Obviously Haye is our best HW hope right now, so I hope he wins. I really do hope Audley comes out of this having put in a great performance and gaining a lot of respect. Maybe a few decent paydays before he knocks it on the head. Plenty of scalps out there should he finally come good.
But then this is Audley Harrison, the great underachiever.
