sportingbet took a hiding when they put groves up at 4/6 to beat adamu. they obviously are scared to price him up now and the 1/14 is ridiculous. expect boylesports to go around 1/8

Do you know if it was an uppercut? Froch throws a really mean uppercut.Smigga wrote:I wasn't there Ben so my info is 2nd hand. In my opinion though, this is any boxer and not just Groves - "had to take a knee" means you have your senses and choose to take a knee. Being hit that hard that your senses go and your legs give, dropping to your knee is a different matter. Also you won't see many people taking knees from head shots voluntarily. Normally body shots do that.Ben Carey wrote:How many times has Groves been dropped / stopped in the amateurs? But other than that? I'd be grateful if people could shed any further light.

Although the 5/1 Munroe against Martinez in there first fight was just as memorable (that was with Skybet)
1/10 Martinez 5/1 Munroe they opened up - oh happy days!!

I try and take a knee BEFORE receiving a head shot, thereby missing it altogetherSmigga wrote:Also you won't see many people taking knees from head shots voluntarily. Normally body shots do that.

Funnily enough, that's exactly what his boss did in the Mormeck fight.Smigga wrote:

I hope the rumours of Groves having a weak chin prove false, as he looks a future world beater if his chin holds up. I've got my doubts too, but only because of the rumours, because we haven't seen anything like that in the ring so far.
The stumble in the US was hard to call, was he hurt, or tripped over his own feet? He got flattened in the ams, but that can happen to anyone, Ricky Hatton included. Plus he took Travis the distance next time out. And Froch can knock down most super middles out there, if he connects right, especially on a ten fight novice.
Not sure if the Scotsman is being a bit over rated here, he hasn't done a lot. Groves should win this one. Great fight.
Re: Groves next fight!!!
The thing with kenny mate is his strength and mental strength. The guys has has a torrid time with injuries and bad lcuk since he tunred over. Several pull outs and as stated in the press his personal issues outside the ring aswell.MightyWarrior wrote:Funnily enough, that's exactly what his boss did in the Mormeck fight.Smigga wrote:

What i do know about this fight is that kenny willl not be stopped, he doesnt go down end of too strong and too rock chinned. So can groves out box him and win a decesion? or will his chin fail him if and when hes caught through the duration of a 12 rounder?
I thonestly think kenny will be too focused for this and see it as a man vs boy situtaion. Kenny stops groves for me possiobly on his feetor cuts?

Yeh I agree with that Anderson will have to start fast and keep busy if he goes missing in action like he has before for a round or two then it will be right up Groves street. I think Groves may keep his hands up for the first few rounds but will get dragged into a fight and get clocked, I dont think it has to be Andersons biggest shot to put Groves away. I cant see Groves stopping Anderson unless Anderson is unfit which considering he is sparring with Froch at present seems unlikley, but you never know. Its sink or swim time for both of them.[/quote]
Why is froch sparring with anderson at the mo?!That doesnt make alot of sense considering he's fighting abraham who is absolutely nothing like anderson in style.

Re: Groves next fight!!!
You do make a good point paul, whilst groves is a talented boxer he definietly seems vunerable around the chin area,it was quite alarming how against a non-puncher in alfredo contreras his legs seemed to buckle badly when the shot landed didnt look all that solid! So that along with other incidents does raise question marks.Smigga wrote:I don't think I've ever agreed with anything you've said, hoop, but I do here.hoop wrote:bennie wrote:I can still see this going the full 12 rounds. Pride, grit and ability take men a long way, but in the end Groves stands up to Anderson's biggest punches and rallies with thrilling bursts of punches to take a thrilling decision.
Agree with most of what you've said but Groves will not stand up for about 10 min if he gets hit with one of Anderson biggest punches, that I am sure off.
It's a 50/50 fight imo but if Anderson clocks Groves it will be over.
Good fight to be made. Hopefully a sign of the way the division is going (all the top ten lads fighting each other) and an intriguing fight.![]()
If Anderson lands a decent shot it's game over for Groves. His chin is badly vulnerable, hit the deck in amateurs, ko'd, decked in sparring recently and Anderson can dig. Groves could look great because Anderson is slow at times, predictable and easy to hit. He has struggled with Mendy and King but this fight/show should make him rise to the occasion big time.
I'll be having a bet on the fight not going the distance, Anderson early - Groves late.

Just done a tenner on Anderson just to win at 13/2 and another tenner on him by ko/tko/disq at 8/1. The 9/1 was no longer available. Crazy prices.GLOBALBOX wrote:Thought this might interest some

Re: Groves next fight!!!
Unfortunately you just can't say that - boxing's history is littered with examples of 'rock-chinned' fighters being stopped, sometimes by those who aren't known posters. The reality is that pretty much anyone can be dropped if they're caught right, or stopped if they ship too much. Not saying this will happen in this fight, but definitive statements like this can't be made.bigped wrote: What i do know about this fight is that kenny willl not be stopped, he doesnt go down end of too strong and too rock chinned.
Re: Groves next fight!!!
Groves will win this by stoppage easy, people are really underestimating him
Re: Groves next fight!!!
I agree that anyone can get knocked out. As far as I'm aware Anderson has a pretty solid chin I have never heard of him being hurt or looking rocked, I think anyone saying Groves will win this easily is being taken in by the hype this is a massive step up for both of them. If I had to pick a winner I'd say Anderson between 3-8 by KO, If it goes the distance then I go with Groves.
Re: Groves next fight!!!
My mate stopped Anderson in the amateurs. Had him down too. Clubmate of mine, good friend. I remember it well I boxed on the same showhoop wrote:I agree that anyone can get knocked out. Re: Groves next fight!!!
I'd hardly say being put down in sparring with Froch is a good indicator as to a fight between Groves and Anderson.
Froch is 3-1 at world level and holds KO wins over all his domestic rivals at the time.... it's not as if he's an unskilled hack that can't punch.
Groves is a bit over enthusiastic too.....

Also just wondering how you think your inactivity will effect you against Degale?, and do you think Warren is trying to set you up I dont mean that I think you will lose I personally think you will win, but its Warren's style he done the same with Willy Limond v Khan kept the older champion inactive and then put him in with the fresh Khan. Theres no doubt Warren will want Degale to win after the money he has put into him, so there must be some resentment on your part?.

Smigga said yes. I don't think he was forced to take this fight. Therefore, no need for any resentment. It's business, after all.hoop wrote:Theres no doubt Warren will want Degale to win after the money he has put into him, so there must be some resentment on your part?.
