I would rate Ingle as one of the greatest British fighters of all time. He always impressed me.

Tommy Gun, after Palacio his left shoulder was knackered, the trouble happened 2 weeks before the Fight, I tried to pull Him. It was always coming out the shoulder, He had 3 operations on it, 2 weeks before Robinson it came out. He couldnt train as He should Have, that was the problem. Where making 9st wasnt a problem, it became one. I learned over time Colin certainly didnt lack Bottle. In the Irwin Fight, or I should say after, didnt like the look of Him and under protest got Him to the Hospital, after 2 hours the Doctor asked who had brought Him there, I said I did expecting a bollocking. The Doctor said well done another 4 hours He would have been Dead. Colin always gave everything He had.

Naz made a reputation beating seriously shop-worn opponents. Junior Jones had more left than any name fighter Naz beat.
I partially agree, although I think Manuel Medina had alot more left when he fought Naz, thank Junior Jones did against Ingle. Remember, Junior Jones had a major struggle against Richard Evatt before that, struggled against a shot Tracey Harris Patterson and then did nothing after. Manuel Medina went on to give Ingle all the trouble he could handle, beat Scott Harrison and win world titles on a few occasions for the best part of 10 years after the Hamed fight.

Agree Hamed made his reputation on has beens or never will be (at that level) but the victory against Medina was against as close as prime a Medina as you will get. Jones was shot.

Ingle was a fantastic fighter, a true world class fighter who I actually think would have possibly beaten Hamed in a rematch. However, I do think his chin was a potential weakness at the very highest level. Not a chinny fighter at all, but kind of like a Tito chin. He didn't have Tito's lights out response though, so this always left him in a bit of trouble with the judges (as he was vs Hamed and Junior Jones).

Absolutely - McMillan was class and had the bottle. His showing against Robinson and Ingle showed that also.

Not only were all of these fantastic fighters, but they were also such exciting fighters and because none of them matched with each other in their absolute peak - would have been fantastic fights.

Robinson did smash McMillan in their meeting, but no doubt McMillan wasn't right, no one can dispute it. I didn't give Robinson a chance with a Stecca version of McMillan before the fight, but have to say, the manner of Robinson's win I think means it would have been an enthralling fight with a 100% McMillan.

Same with Hokko. I think Steve himself was starting to have some weight issues at around the McKenzie fight and didn't have the same snap himself after that.

I think Robinson would have out strengthed Brodie (much like Harrison did)

I remember being at the rules meeting for the Robinson-McMillan fight and was surprised, not only to see Colin there - fighters don't normally bother - but that he wanted to get the message over to the referee that if he lay on the ropes not throwing many punches it wasn't a signal for him to stop the fight. If we weren't sure how his left shoulder was before that moment, we knew then. McMillan had so much skill but unless you had the power of a Hamed, which featherweights have, you couldn't beat a pressure fighter like Robinson one-handed.

Yeah, that must have been a real eye opener. Only thing is Robinson was still relatively untested at the upper echelons of top domestic class at that stage. No disrespect to Sean Murphy and John Davison, but both I think were past their best when they fought Steve for the world title. McMillan was Steve's first true world class opponent and I'm sure some people, even knowing McMillan was about 80% thought he would been too much for the relatively, at that level, unproven Welshman.

Even though it was clear McMillan wasn't right, that performance was the one in which people took notice of Steve as a "proper" world champion. Even though people still argue (maybe with some validity) that a "Stecca" version of McMillan might have been too much, everyone was unaminous that it was Robinson was beyond domestic level and it was going to take a world class fighter at 100% to beat him. We knew then that Paul Hodkinson would have to be at 100% to stand much chance against Robinson, he wasn't he got thumped also.

Yes, I agree, it did a lot to increase his reputation. Because of where he'd come from, of how he'd learned the trade with small-hall fights, and because of his modesty as a man, it took time for him to be acknowledged as a world class operator. He deserved every bit of respect he got.

He had a good little run - Very difficult to begrudge him that, but it was obvious that his promoter really was wringing out all his promotional worth with each fight.

Give you one against DeRoux, had an American Trainer giving me a Hand in the corner. He said shall I prepare him H vaseline, I say sure. They go into a cubicle 2 minutes later i here this scream, think what the fornicate is going on open the door and Colin cant see, says He is Blind, I ask the guy what He had mixed in with the vas, He says Newskin. :DDD dont know how that works. Anyway He is shitting himself, weve got 15 minutes and a blind fighter, and says sorry what can we do. Told him calm down, we will use the best eyewash there is 1/1000 adrenalin, cost me £15 extra arsehole :OhYes:
