Smith or Degale? Cast your vote!

Post by RHOOK »

Evening everybody, out of sheer curiosity and partial boredom, I have posted a poll (running for 3 days) on who do you think will be victorious on December 11th? :box:

Smith for me.

The 4-1 currently being offered for Smith is severely wide of the mark.

I don´t think FW would risk his investment in Degale unless he was very confident

Warren must have very little confidence in Smith, he could easily have moved him on and allowed Degale to fight someone else for the British, Smith is obviously the home fighter but allegedly Promotions will be backing Degale so if its a close fight Degale will get it. I was backing Smith to win but having watched his last two performances I cant see it, he's solid and I dont think Degale will stop him but Smith doesnt have the power or strenth to stop Degale either and there is no doubt on who the better boxer is, the only thing Smith has going for him is experience which may play apart but I think Degale with wide Ud.

I think this will be a tough, rugged fight and Degale will need to go into the trenches for the first time. Smith is no mug, and while I'm not personally a fan of his style I think he will give it his all and ask real questions of Degale. I've voted for Degale on points, but I think it will be quite close.

i 've gone Smith to hurt him to the body at some point, wear him down, get him out of there. I haven't seen huge amounts of either fighter. It probably won't happen like that as Degale strikes me as a consumate athlete and shouldn't let that happen to him, but 12 rounds is a hell of a long time. I think Degale should have had 2 or 3 more fights before this, because even if he wins it pushes him into deeper waters.

Grueling fight, Smith's tough as old boots De Gales got the Arsenal but has never been twelve rounds.

Degale around nine, almost out on his feet himself.

i voted smith ud , but im not 100% , its an intriguing fight imo , one im interested to see what happens , i like both fighters , but i feel a loss at this stage wouldnt hurt degale as much as it could do to smith , so if i had a preference on the winner id go smith , which is possibly why i leant that way in the poll , but in honesty i really dont know , can degale go in the trenches for 12 rounds ? has w arren really undermined smith by making this fight ? loads of unanswered questions that will all be answered come dec 11th , im looking forward to it .

     . Based on what?, have you ever fought or sparred him?.

I'm not slagging you mate I just dont think you have the skills to beat Degale, I dont know why your brining another fighter into it. You must know yourself Groves is a lot more fragile than Degale, if you where fighting Groves I'd take you by stoppage too, likewise if Kenny was fighting Degale on a allegedly show after having one fight in the last year and not having fought at all since March I'd take Degale to beat him too, based on the fact that I think Degale is quite solid and is a better boxer than both off you.

selling tickets dont win fight's & if he sold that many he wouldnt be facing degale. the echo arena fight's had alot of local talent showcased & it still had plenty of spare seat's.
smigga dont need anyone sticking up for him.

I think Degale takes this comfortably. Probably the best fighter Smith have faced and offers stylistic challenge that I dont think Paul will overcome

DeGale by decision unless he cuts Smith up badly enough to end the fight. DeGale might find it tougher than he expects, but I think he'll train well enough to last the distance, and he is the superior boxer, imo.

smith to me is still an unknown commodity in the sport of boxing. there's alot of hype wrapped around chunky.

someone said to me, the last southpaw he fought was bendall who took alot of rds of smith & smith failed to chin him, so what can he do to chunky??

i answerd he was tight at middle, but then dont see him as a super :-?

Based on my opinion. I've never sparred nor boxed him but you've never sparred or boxed me. Nor has Billy Nelson, in your opinion because he believes it then it must be true right?

If he was as big of a puncher as you think then everyone would know he's a puncher. Plus punching aand knocking out journeymen is easier than doing it against kids with winning records and title holders/challengers. That answers your KO% answer from boxrec - Kenny's fought 3 kids with winning records - none of them had won more than 5 fights!
To answer the mutual opponents question, he fought both of them over a year or two after I did. Arguments there for them being softened up.

It doesn't bother me your opinion on my handling of Degale, my argument is your opinion on me and Anderson :TU:

Three?

That's at least two more than most VIP fighters

I'm swaying on this one, really am..... both on my prediction and whether to go.

The undercard is average, Kell Brook against a no-hoper, Gavin vs Harrison and Bellew vs TBA isn't brilliant.
