Even more so that it was at super-middleweight. Johnson hasnt fought at that weight for years and yearsrhino222 wrote:Just noticed that an aged Glenn Johnson KO'd Allan Green in vegas on Saturday.

Re: Mr Evergreen !!!
That means he fights Froch or Abraham next. I expect that fight to be a war, and the winner vs Johnson will probably be a great fight as well. Really glad Green didn't win last night.
Re: Mr Evergreen !!!
Yep, 10 years. He didn't have very long to prepare either (he was 192 lbs in the ring against Cloud!). The fight last night was only 3 months after the one against Cloud. Johnson is the daddy.liamlion wrote:Even more so that it was at super-middleweight. Re: Mr Evergreen !!!
i know nothing about Allan Green apart from he KO'd Jones Jnr in a round and everyone said that was cos RJJ was shot to sh*t. Hell, I give Johnson the credit for making that weight!! Great character, consumate athlete and clearly he has a few fans on here ![[icon_notworthy.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_notworthy.gif)

He just said he'd fight in Germany, U.K or anywhere the title is. Now would you say he's a Hall of Fame boxer? I would. Some disagree as he has lost 14 fights.

Re: Mr Evergreen !!!
The fight was in the balance (on the scorecards) at the time of the KO and Green will say it was a borderline illegal shot that started his demise, but he didn't look like he had the willingness to dig deep in the final rounds anyway. Johnson looked extraordinarily lean at the weight and I wondered if he would suffer having had to shed the extra pounds, but he just kept on coming and deserved the win. A throwback fighter.

Re: Mr Evergreen !!!
What was Green saying to the ref when he was on the floor? I thought it was 'my knee' , but not sure. He complained after that he had beat the count, but his gloves were definitely on the floor at 10.

true, he's lost some of them by way of rip off, i thought he beat dawson, but dawson got the nod..he also lost a lot of those fights early on and learned from them, which is a lesson to the kids of today who worship the "0"sg1985 wrote:He's lost fourteen fights because of that attitude though, great fighter.Old bones Ian wrote:He just said he'd fight in Germany, U.K or anywhere the title is. I think he was complaining that it was a shot to the back of the head. It was borderline for me and I give the benefit of the doubt to Johnson.Old bones Ian wrote:What was Green saying to the ref when he was on the floor? I thought it was 'my knee' , but not sure. I don't think he can have any complaints about the stoppage either. He might have been up just before 10 but he was in no state to carry on. The ref saved him from any unnecessary punishment.

Re: Mr Evergreen !!!
It was a bit strange at the end, the ref counted to 9 then Green got up , but was still bent over and i'm sure both of his gloves were touching the canvas, when he righted himself the ref looked for a second that he was going to let it continue, but then waved his hands to call it off.SweetLikeSugar wrote:I think he was complaining that it was a shot to the back of the head. Your right though he got saved by the ref calling it off. Green has proven to be just short of world class, but can handle the lower level guys with ease. It wouldn't surprise me to see him get another title shot at some point.
Re: Mr Evergreen !!!
He looked to be limping slightly after he got up from the KD so he may well have been complaining about his knee.Old bones Ian wrote:What was Green saying to the ref when he was on the floor? Re: Mr Evergreen !!!
Green has put in an appeal to get the knockout lose changed to a No Decision. Load of wank. He lost to the better man. If this appeal is won, then we could end up with every knockout being analysed by the loser in case 1 punch was illegal.
Re: Mr Evergreen !!!
Not seen the fight, but I think the fact the fight was close on the cards at the time of the stoppage highlight that Johnson has gone back a bit.
