Eric de Mori -v- The Phantom

Post by Brute »

What the hell happened in Perth yesterday? The result had Eric de Mori losing to "Unknown."

Who's running the disaster? Surely the promoter would know who Eric fought.

It appears Ben K didn't work (judge) last night & was unable to obtain correct details/results.
He'll no doubt update as soon as he gets them from local commission

Should get actual names tomorrow. I wrote them down but lost the piece of paper. I will get official results from commission.

Peter Tovio? Im not sure that is the guy, His name was far longer than that. Unless we used his birth name on the cards last night.

The guy had a huge heart, i can tell you that. He was thouroghlly outboxed for the first 5 1/2 rounds. then landed a huge Left hook right on Eric's chin. Eric did well to beat the count but was still in bad shape when they resumed and the fight was stopped shortlly afterwards.

Peter Tovi'o. An inverted comma can hide a multitude of letters.

Thanks for the info, mate. :TU:

Hi Ben K,

Please update boxrec results accordingly. Peter Leuatogi Tovi'o beat Eric De Mori KO 6 rd and Junior Maletino Iakopo lost to Riccardo Monteleone on UD points over 6 x 3. Please remove Atalili Fai's name as he did not fight.

Thanks

Hope you do better than I did. On 14 December 1970 I saw Bill Reeves clean up Peter Blackwell in two rounds on a Channel Nine card. "Boxrec" has it down as Reeves beating Alec Ross, who had not fought since 1964.

The key to this is Reihana Malengi, a short, chubby Maori Blackwell beat on 18/3/71. He was thrown to Blackwell after Reeves cleaned him up. Malengi only had one other fight, against Alan Cobb, another Reeves victim, on 12/5/71. That was the only fight Cobb won. Malengi finished with a 0-2 record.

I knew people who knew Blackwell, who had a tattoo parlor in Revesby. I heard about him howling about the referee stopping the fight at the pub after the Reeves fight.

I contacted Boxrec about their error, but they would not have it.
