SCOTT HARRISON COMEBACK???

Post by southpaw90 »

just read the sun 2day and seen scott harrison sayin he wants to fight ricky burns...actually he said burns was on borrowed time and he'd ko him. personally as much of a harrison fan as i was i was a very angry youngster when harrison fucked it and ruined his career...such a waste as i was such a big fan. but on the note of a fight with ricky burns it would be a great fight but my money would b on ricky burns. would be a cracking fight tho and only good for scottish boxing if it happened.

Will he get his licence back? Hes been in there a while now and not boxed for 5 years and although i dont doubt hes in shape cant help but think the BBBoC will retire him for good.. Have to agree Southpaw, i was a big fan also :bag:

He's still stuck in a Spanish jail isn't he? This article (dated 5th September 2010) states he has been transferred to a pretty nasty place. If that was two months ago, I'd be surprised if he has been released already, with 18 months of his sentence left:
Disgraced boxing champ Scott Harrison has been transferred to a cockroach infested Spanish jail.

The dad-of-two was moved last month from Alhaurin de la Torre prison, near Malaga, where he has served more than a year of a 30-month jail sentence for assault.

hes done quite well inside form what iwashearing .Hes been runing races/marathons etc and is supposed to be in pretty good shape .so it might not be far off tbh,i think he might struggle to get a liceance over here but they might do it with stipulations on (blood tesets etc ) or he could go to another country to fight and get a licenace over there .

Theres absolutly no chance Scott could make 9st 4lb he couldnt get under 9st 9lb for the fight with cook so hows he going to manage it 5 years later. It wouldnt matter anyway Burns beats him comfortably imo.

Anyone know if/when he's out? If he only has to serve half of the 30 month sentence as in the UK then he might not be far off.

I'd like to see Scott comeback with a replenished fire in his belly and start banging some heads :bag:

Good luck to Scott I'm sure if he wasn't fit and able his trainer and Dad Peter would not allow him back in the ring, he is only 33 if you look at the age of some of the current champions then he does still have time. I think the Scott Harrison of 5 years ago would beat Burns without any trouble most likey by stoppage, but 5 years out is a long time so we'll have to wait and see. Really hope it all turns out for him he was a monster at his best.

Cheers for posting that :TU: It's the most detailed account I've read of what happened
He is likely to spend around a year in prison, having spent five months on remand after his arrest in 2006.
Sounds like he may not be far off his release..... but I see you've just posted rumours of him being in trouble in there (don't know what emoticon to put here).

He's 33 y/o, so he could feasibly have a few more years in him if he's been keeping himself in shape

There is a big decision of him getting licenced though. If Hatton had his licence revoked for being caught on camera (and from what I've read there is nothing suggesting he can even re-apply for it) then surely Harrison faces greater scrutiny.

If he can prove his fitness and mental well being to the board then I think it would be harsh of them to keep him out of the ring, considering he's served his time to the UK and Spanish judicial systems.

People with far worse convictions than Scott are currently licensed by The BBBC.

Why would the Super featherweight world chamion want to go up to LW and fight someone who hasnt fought in 5 years. To be honest if the two meet Ricky will win and win easily.I think a fight with Alex Arthur is more likely,Both guys out to prove they still have it?

He's done the crime and served the time, does he not deserve another chance?

I don't know what he's like as a person but he hasn't just commited one crime here and been punished for it, he has a long history of acting like a twat.

So what do you think he will do if he is not allowed to focus on something he is good at? He is likely to go off the rails again. Let the man earn a living the way he knows how before he causes more trouble looking for a way to feed his family.

Alcohol causes much heartache&when your going thru the hard times,u dont care about who or what you hurt..its a addiction!!
If he dosent get back to anywhere near he was or never fights again, boxing can be the focus he needs, maybe helping others...

I agree. He may be scum, but the fact is he can turn his life around. I am sure we have all done some nasty things in our time, I know I have, and I have turned my life around.

He continually does nasty things , being barred from ALL the pubs for picking fights , did'nt learn then , its time after time with this lowlife , sometimes you just gotta say , you can't help the hepless.

I listen to people on boxing forums , carry on about giving thugs like him a chance and i think it carrys has much worth has a animal lover , who wants to save a dog that savages people every time it escapes from the scrap yard . Boxing don't need thugs it has enough bad publicity already .

I could argue its the amount of money he earns from boxing , he cannot handle it , the money gives him time , and recourses to go on the piss which he cannot handle , he needs to stop drinking and get a job to fill his time and mix with normal people , perhaps its actually boxing that brings him down ,

Either way he's a thug nothing more nothing less , and one more thing , when he gets out it won't be Long BEFORE HE'S BACK .
