Audley Harrison interview with his wife and child

Post by SteveDow »

I've just watched an interview on Sky Sports website where Audley is with his wife, child and family today. Surely having them around in the week of the fight is not the ideal preparation for a fight of this magnitude. No matter what anybody says, that would be a distraction when all he should be thinking about right now is how to beat Haye.

I think that to have any chance of winning this fight Audley needs to be aggressive, fired up, 100% focused, and most importantly angry. He should be depriving himself of these type of comforts and taking all of that anger out on Haye in the ring. Just look at Katsidis in the recent fight with Kevin Mitchell. He delibarately took himself away from his family for weeks and weeks with no contact in order to get his mind in total focus and get himself in fighting mood. Look at the results. Whilst I accept that each person is different, I think that having loved ones around in the build up to the most important fight of his career is not advisable.

Well that may something about his 'focus' for the fight then. Maybe he's getting quality time with them now whilst he still can - that's uncalled for I know I'll take it back now

On the other side of that he hasn't exactly set the world on fire whilst being away from the family so maybe this way around will be better, who knows :TU:

Remember Wayne McCullough in the dressing room before the Hamed fight? Most predicted he'd get destroyed, he didn't have a care in the World shadow boxing and joking around in front of Winona his daughter.

Fair enough that it is horses for courses but it just seems odd to me. That said, Audley looked extremely relaxed. I'll be interested to see his reaction during the face off tomorrow and then at the weigh in on Friday as the fight draws ever closer. I'll be stunned if he doesn't look petrified during the walk to the ring.

Harrison has no chance on Saturday - this is a pointless fight with 2 average boxers fighting. Looking forward to Manny instead.

Yes i'd say he is.

Average in the fact he's taking an easy fight and the fans money when really people want to see him fight Wlad.

You can't waltz about with tshirt decapitating folk then expect that everyone will forget it when you fight a lost cause in Harrison.

Average in the fact that in his mind Haye thinks he's superman and his ego has its own postcode

Haye is better than average, he has just pissed a lot of us off over the last 18 months or so. When he gets in the ring with Wlad, or maybe knocks him out, he will be the 2nd coming again.

I don't think so. He's always had those grandiose ring entrances that make him look like The Next Great Heavyweight. It's in the actual fight that the complexion often changes.

hatton-mayweather ringwalk didn't fill me with much confidence.

hatton for the first time all week looked a little uncomfortable.

floyd looked as cool as a cucumber.
