Interesting stat if Harrison wins...
He'll be the second-oldest guy to win a world heavyweight title.
At recently-turned 39, he's older than Holyfield when he won his fourth WBA belt, Sanders when he beat Wlad for the WBO, Maskaev when he beat Rahman a second time, and Walcott, who in winning the title as a mere youth of 37 held the "oldest ever" record for almost half a century.
Not much has been made of Harrison's age - in fact, people are still talking about the possibility of him fulfilling his "potential", when in all likelihood he must have already peaked some years ago.

He would also be thee oldest fighter ever to become a World Heavyweight Champion for the first time - ever.
Foreman was already a World Champion - in the 1970's , etc.

Good point. Is he also the oldest-ever first-time challenger for a world heavyweight title? Or would that have been Archie Moore?FLINT ISLAND wrote:He would also be thee oldest fighter ever to become a World Heavyweight Champion for the first time - ever.

I was never convinced Jorge Luis Gonzales was only 31 when he fought Bowe.
Matt Skelton was older than 39 when he challenged Chagaev.

I never cease to be amazed by Moore's record.
