I can't be the only person who remembers 'Danny Pike' on here? It is from around 1983... Surely somebody on here knows what I am talking about?

The Fists of Danny Pike
Eagle comics had an excellent strip about a Liverpool heavyweight hope called Danny Pike who dreamed of becoming world heavyweight champion, gravedigger by day (I wondered who that could be based on) and KO artist at night - he went to America to challenge the mean, bald headed world heavyweight champion (who was based on the reigning world middleweight champion of the time) who knocked him out in Pike's first title shot.. (ala Tony Sibson)

I remember it. Champ was called Alvin Sharkey an obnoxious, big mouth based on Larry Holmes I Think. he lost world title to south African Dewitt(based on Gerrie coetzea) but beat him in a rematch, when he he agreed to fight for free just to get him back in ring for rematch.

You know what Joe - I wonder where you could get hold of the full strip these days? It looked a quality boxing story based on the personalities of the time. I forgot the name of the American champ (Alvin Sharkey) and of course the South African who he lost the title too - thanks for the info my man!
