Guys, generally I'm as suspicious as the next pudendum but I'm going to have to watch this fight again because I didn't think there looked anything dodgy about that fight on saturday, apart from Khan maybe getting a few gift points in the final round.

If Kindelan wasn't at his best couldn't it be because of the prize on offer? Compare what each stood to gain. Like I say I'll watch it again and see.

I enjoyed the fight but the atmosphere was a bit too "celebrity awards night esque" for my liking.

I think the setting took away from the visible intensity of the fight and made Kindelan appear as though he wasn't trying as hard (perhaps he wasn't though)

It must be quite difficult to get motivated for a fight when you have won everything and your opponent has a lot of motivation to win!

Don't think there was any indication of a fix although the way allegedly appeared via video link and Amir's non-reaction to turning professional made it appear very staged.

Amateur sensation Amir Khan will turn pro later this year against an opponent to be announced. Khan, who is only 18 years old, plans to retire from the sport at the young age of 25. Khan announced his plans to go pro following a 19-13 win over Cuban rival Mario Kindelan.

Khan told the UK press that he does not want to continue fighting after he turns 25, he would rather retire and look after his family. Khan is looking to become the richest fighter in British boxing history within a seven year career.

"I want to become a world champion fairly soon - I got to the Olympics quickly so now I want to win a world title quickly too. I want to retire from all of boxing by the age of 25, becoming a legend as well at that age. It is a big goal and it is going to be hard to do." said Khan

"I don't want to get punched all my life so the best thing is at the age of 25 to stop boxing and look after my family."

Rigondeaux as was mentioned imo is easily the best Cuban. Also, tell me about Tabaja then? And in your opinion would he beat Khan now. Also Khan lost at the European Championships in the first round and then in the Olympics went on to spank the actual European Champion in his second fight. He seems to adjust.

Perhaps I'm jumping the gun then, and apologise. Its just i read Neil's comment and one from a chap from cardiff and both were essentially negative. I post more regularly on a rugby forum, and get a bit sick of every Celt running down a decent English performance whenever the opportunity arises.

e.g. if Scotland beat Tonga or Malawi or something its a "great result" and if England beat New Zealand its because they cheated/were lucky/ref was biased [delete as appropriate]

This could easily become a rant on the state of danish amateur boxing.
Tabaja is a extremly gifted amateur whose club, aliong with 7 other major clubs, have formed an alliance so that they can make their talents better. The federation doesnt like that so they have excluded the 8 clubs from the national teams which means that boxers from those 8 clubs cant compete in euro, world ect championships and large int tournaments and the federation have revoked the boxers licens to box in the bundesliga. Because of this boxers from the 8 clubs dont get enough tough competition so they wont improve. The boxers wont really stand for it so several of them have changed/will change nationality. Tabaja will fight of Syria or Lebanon (cant remember which) other will fights for countries their parents were born in (lots of immigrants in danish boxing) while "native danes" will try to compete for Germany. Because of this out cultural minister (which handels sports) have limited the economcal support for boxing to £25K a years which has to cover of everything. And this will most likely mean that in a few years we will not have any good amateurs and in the long run good pros, just because some old men cant get along.
But back to Tabaja. Tabaja is really good, very good allrounder that could do very will in the olympics in 2008 but I fear his career will be ruined if he cant get the support he needs. At this point Khan will most likely beat him but a couple of years ago it was Tabaja that "schooled" Khan.Other victims of the feud is Reda Zam Zam and Jadgar Abdulla, but at lest they were so old that they could turn pro but IMO they would have been able to do very well at the 04 olympics.
