Sounds like Groves didn't look great in winning. Does he have chin issues? I remember people saying that he was rocked in his last fight as well. My belief that Degale would beat him has been reaffirmed.

Fair play to Anderson, clearly a better fighter than I thought he was. I was kicking myself for not putting some money on him after the knockdown, it really did look like it would just be a matter of time before he landed a punch Groves wouldn't be able to recover from.

The turnaround came in quick fashion, almost out of the blue. Anderson was clearly weak to the body and it's a little surprising that Groves didn't concentrate on the body from the off, given Anderson's history.

Good learning fight, took Groves to the brink while still getting the win, he'll have a treasure trove of problems to address from the tape.

Yeah I've really rated Groves and think he's a top prospect and still do, though maybe not as good (yet) as I thought. But at 22 he's still got the L plates on and needs to just calm down a bit.

I thought the occasion got to him a little tonight, he wasted all that energy early on moving around, but fair play he showed he can come through a crisis and offensively he throws some lovely shots, he just needs to work on positioning himself and throwing combinations instead of loading up... he kind of reminded me a bit of Nigel Benn, but thing is he's not got Benn's dig.

I don't think he's ready for Degale yet but let's see how Chunky does against Smith because he's not been hit back properly yet either.

But like Adam Booth said, he's got cojones and showed the heart of a fighter.

So it turns out Anderson isn't some kind of Margarito-esque killer afterall???

Hype got to many. I said Groves could do a number on him. DeGale destroys both, easily too IMO. Anderson is barely domestic level

+1 DeGale easily beats these 2.

Groves looks to have learned little from that testing fight stateside.

Cracking little contest, especially as Groves is one of the apples of my eye right now. My heart sunk a bit when he went down, but he soon became a man in there tonight by pulling out the stoppage.

As we all know, his guard/lack of defence really does leave him open, which could well expose him as he goes through the levels.

He either needs to borrow some of Carl Froch's chin, or sort his gameplan/defence out sharpish.

Certainly was. I feel a little bit bad for the guys who bet on an Anderson stoppage, he came within a gnat's whisker of pulling it off.

Hope that loss doesn't see him become avoided, he gave a great showing of himself, he deserves to be taken care of and matched at a profile/level befitting him.

I think the occasion got to Groves. But he manned up and got over the crisis. Work to do.

Bit harsh mate think he shud he deserves to be in the mix, he took it at 2 weeks notice? imagine he knew he was fighting groves 8 weeks ago and had a full camp.
