Re: HOW DID PACQUIAO LOOK?
I've always seen the Mayweather fight as being a potential let down, as in Floyd just having too much for the Pacman. Not anymore. After watching him today, he looks damn near unbeatable. As does Floyd....this just became a true superfight for the ages.
Trouble is, I can see this as one of those that might never happen. If they wouldn't do it for 40 mill, what will it take?
I hate to cloud anything the amazing Manny Pac does, but why the hell doesn't he just agree to the tests? What's he got to lose, other than a few drops of blood...

Re: HOW DID PACQUIAO LOOK?
The tests aren't the issue any more, the Pacman camp made concessions and agreed to blood testing up to (I think) a week before the fight. Floyd just keeps finding reasons to avoid fighting him.
I agree with an earlier post, I genuinely believe Floyd doesn't fancy this one. He's too risk-averse. Mind you, I wouldn't fancy getting in the ring with Manny either..! But then I'm not claiming to be the G.O.A.T.

Re: HOW DID PACQUIAO LOOK?
How the hell does Mayweather beat him if Pacquiao is in the same form he was in last night? I know Margarito was taylor made for Manny but the boxing masterclass the little Philippino put on against a much bigger man was astonishing.
Re: HOW DID PACQUIAO LOOK?
Marquez didn't fight like a past man in his last fight. I find it quite startling that people still bring the Castillo fight..... shall we bring up the first Morales fight for Pacquiao - BOTH have improved beyond recognition from that night. Mayweather was a weight drained one handed fighter against Castillo - and he still one.
Mosley was coming off one of his best performances. Hatton was "less" shot against Mayweather than vs Pacquiao.
Its not like we cannot disect all of Pacquiao's most recent opponents and place similar criticisms as the Mayweather ones.
Hatton - shot, DLH shot, Cotto - faded and drained, Clottey (not that good), Margarito - rusty. Last truly live one, not weight drained was Marquez - many thought he lost.
They need each other.

Re: HOW DID PACQUIAO LOOK?
JMM has shown how to beat Pacquiao - Twice in many people's opinion. Mayweather is defensively cute, and a little dirty at times. Someone who matches him for speed, beats him in accuracy and has the ring savvy of Mayweather could test him.Deno1986 wrote:How the hell does Mayweather beat him if Pacquiao is in the same form he was in last night? Re: HOW DID PACQUIAO LOOK?
Does Mayweather match him for speed? I really don't think he does. Marquez has never beaten Pacquaio, maybe in some peoples eyes he did but the record shows otherwise. Maybe I am looking too much into Pacquaios recent fights but this time last year I would have had Mayweather 60-40 to beat him, where as now I would favour Pacquaio 55-45. Obviously the biggest worry is that we may never get to see the current two best boxers in the world fight each other.stujones wrote:JMM has shown how to beat Pacquiao - Twice in many people's opinion. How can somebody work at that rate for 12 rounds? He is un'fuckin'believable! Margo look Filipino at the end.
PacMan KO's Floyd!
PacMan KO's Floyd!

No, the issue is he wont do the test that conclusively proves he's clean, which is a couple of days before the fight. That's the sticking point.greenyox3 wrote:The tests aren't the issue any more, the Pacman camp made concessions and agreed to blood testing up to (I think) a week before the fight. Re: HOW DID PACQUIAO LOOK?
In regards to a possible Mayweather-Pacquiao fight the drug tests should, for this fight and all other possible match-ups of this magnitude, be random from the moment you go into camp, up until you step into the ring. it shouldn't need one boxer to demand another to take a test, it should be mandatory. Why not have a minimum of five or so random tests from the moment you go into camp. That should solve the problem. Nobody should be aloud to refuse that!

Re: HOW DID PACQUIAO LOOK?
Pac-Mayweather is not happening. I honestly think last night was it for Manny.
Floyd never wanted it at any point. I also think we won't see him in the ring again either.

Re: HOW DID PACQUIAO LOOK?
I really agree about the drug tests. But then the whole way boxing is administered in the US is a disgrace and almost seems designed for corruption and rule breaking, so this drugs thing just doesn't seem that relatively important. But it is.
Meantime, on the Mayweather - Pacquiao fight... ooooo... I doooon't know. Every time either one fights, I reassess the basics and also get new ideas and new kinks in old ideas. Certainly the most interesting fight for a long, long time. I'm not sure I could stand the tension and anticipation in the weeks approaching it, if it ever did happen.'
But, alas, I doubt it will, because Mayweather doesn't want it.

yes this! if he beats pbf top 5 of all timecharlieb wrote:He looked absolutely unbeatable. I was almost convinced I'd wake up this morning to read a headline along the lines of 'Margarito collapses after fight - rushed to hospital'. It was that bad of a beating.
He essentially went 12 rounds taking the kind of shots that poleaxed Hatton, en masse. His face was a bloody, swollen mess. It got so bad by the 10th round that Pacquiao started to look toward the ref to stop it and instead of finishing Margarito when he was clearly ready to be taken he opted to reign in the devestating shots and box for the last two rounds, probably saving Margarito from some serious damage.
One thing is absolutely apparent to me now. Mayweather can't hurt Pacquiao and the sublime skill and superior speed in Manny's arsenal mean he would almost certainly touch Floyd up. The more I see of Pacquiao the more absurd this notion that Mayweather would box his ears off becomes. Mayweather would be knocked out cold if they fought.
Re: HOW DID PACQUIAO LOOK?
The general idea is, when Mayweather wins, he is favourite. When Pac-Man wins , he is the favourite.
Bottom line is Pac-Mans opponents and accomplishments far outweight anything Mayweather has done, though Mayweather has speed, accuracy and defence to makes this a 50/50 fight.
Last night, Manny looked awesome, he stung Margarito in the 4th round with a hard right and buckled him in the 10th, punishing in between and right to the end. I think people should not try to diminish his accomplishment with poor excuses. He stepped up, yet again. And won.
'Nuff said, imo.

Re: HOW DID PACQUIAO LOOK?
Everytime Mayweather or Pacquaio fight I think they would beat the other, after last night I don't see Mayweather beating him anymore! I did think Mayweather could beat him by making him lead and countering effectively but I don't think he could counter Pacquaio's fast combo's and I think PAC could outwork him and push him back against the ropes not letting Mayweather get set. He looked superb against a really gutsy warrior

Pacman won't just beat Mayweather he will give him a severe beating and stop him .

yep.rhino222 wrote:he looked a million dollars, but mayweather IS a million dollars!!
styles like margo will never worry him.
it's slick fighters like mayweather that give him issues.
hence the reason we all wanna see it so much.
don't see arum being bothered with the size of that crowd though.
Re: HOW DID PACQUIAO LOOK?
The only way this fight will happen is if this becomes what everyone thinks. Floyd may start to believe his legacy in 20 years might be 'Oh yeah Mayweather he was good but he always ducked Manny'. I don't think his ego could handle it.Carbo wrote: But, alas, I doubt it will, because Mayweather doesn't want it.
Even his daft super fans have been subdued of late. I guess Floyd will come out with some stupid statement in the next week accusing Pac of taking PED's and they will start banging their drums again.

Re: HOW DID PACQUIAO LOOK?
Perhaps Pacquaio should fight Mosley next. That would be a very good fight, and if Manny managed to beat him in more convincing fashion than Mayweather - then he has another weapon. Think Mosley has a slim chance against Pacman actually.
I think though that if the fight with Mayweather doesn't get signed next year, Pacman will probably call it a day. What else is there left for him to prove? Many already regard him as #1 P4P, and most have him lowest #2, the only way he cements #1 is to beat Mayweather really. I don't see him being able to beat the likes of Martinez or Williams, they are just too damned big, and they aren't as slow, hittable or clumsy as Margarito.

If they can't make the Mayweather fight I would like to see him fight either Berto or the winner of Bradley/Alexander. Ok neither would be a household name but it would be a really good win (if he could beat them) also Pacquiao could sell pretty much any venue out by himself so no matter who the opponent is people will buy!

I think Berto would be a very difficult guy to beat. He's fast, crafty and carries a shot. As great as Manny might have looked, Margarito was always going to be a sitting duck. Berto isnt.

Re: HOW DID PACQUIAO LOOK?
Great display by Manny - hes just so exciting. But talk about Mayweather - a class above Magarito, Clottlry and Cotto. Floyds best punch is arguably his right hand, which he lands cleanly and often in a surpising way - could spell trouble for Manny.
Re: HOW DID PACQUIAO LOOK?
JMM might not have got the decision, but he showed a blue print to beat Manny. JMM is slicker than most of Manny's recent foes, Floyd's a shit load more slicker than JMM.
You could argue, and I did think it for a while, that DLH has shown the blueprint to beat Floyd - but the more I see Floyd, the more I think that might have been Floyd at two higher a weight category and on an off night. People thought Hatton had the workrate to cause problems, wrong. People thought Mosley had the speed to cause problems... wrong. Since DLH, Mayweather has looked electric.
Off course, Pacquiao has looked fantastic - I aint saying its a walk in the park.... it NEEDS to happen.
