Ben Lawler
well done to him in winning the British Masters Belt at Welter with a 6th round stoppage on away soil over previously undefeated Rob Hunt!
Re: Ben Lawler
Also a rob hunt that had beaten and dropped him every round a few fights before well done Ben
My bad that was meant to say won every round and dropped him once sorry ben

Re: Ben Lawler
Rob dropped him once in the 5th in their previous fight. Well done Ben.
Re: Ben Lawler
Ben went into that fight on a bad run with no confidence we had just over 2 weeks notice so want hes done is amazing really. What i did notice was how hard he was hitting on the pads warming up he went out there and put rob down 3 times and to be honest there was no one more shocked than me. Well done ben you did me proud. Re: Ben Lawler
It was Rob's first real fight at welterweight and he was caught out, but you have to acknowledge the amazing turnaround achieved by Lawler.

Re: Ben Lawler
Hopefully Harrison v Hunt will happen at some stage, that would be a good local derby, Stafford V Wolverhampton.

Re: Ben Lawler
Shame for Rob, he's suffered some bad injuries, was a big prospect at one stage. Fair play to Lawler though, love his attitude, just wants to fight.
Harrison Vs Hunt? Not so many years ago I'd have thought both could of got to British title level, if (as expected) Dean loses to Gavin be hard to see where else he can go.

Not heard anything off Russ Colley, presume he's knocked it on the head.

Planet YAM, that's the planet we're on.chris11 wrote:what planet are u lot on?
In other local boxer-related matters, The Lyndsey Scragg/Erin McGowan fight from Australia the other month is a good 'un if you can get to see it. One-sided, but a good scrap.

Re: Ben Lawler
how did our girl Lyndsey get on? I used to love watching her. jab like her left hand's made of concrete, 'go to the body Lyndz' brilliantRuss L wrote:Planet YAM, that's the planet we're on.chris11 wrote:what planet are u lot on?

Re: Ben Lawler
Jabbing was sadly not an option, by dint of the fact that Erin was about 8 feet tall and firing off an evil-looking jab of her own.
Judges had it 100-90, 99-92, and 98-92. I hate to say it but I couldn't have given Lyndsey a single round, myself. A couple or three might have been 10-10.
She showed some guts, though, stayed in it right to the end.
(Edit: 99-92, not 99-91).

It'd still be interesting to know what this Chris11's precise objection was.
Re: Ben Lawler

Re: Ben Lawler
