Audley Harrison ...... when did realisation click in?

Post by rhino222 »

Apologies for bringing the Audley Harrison subject up again...however

when did the realisation suddenly click in that he was kidding himself that he could win?

i think it was when he suddenly turned funny, lost his relaxed demeanour...... just after the weigh in. He suddenly decided he did not want to ask questions anymore, the3 smile turned to a scowl..and the journos backed off!!

thoughts?... was it because he still saw hunger in hayes eyes, at the face off?

Haye is just an ultra relaxed guy leading up to fights. He has the look in his eyes of a person who just loves to fight and knock people out. Seeing that in Hayes eyes at the weigh in would not have helped Audley's nerves. I think once the first bell rang, the reality set in and all that he thought and said he would do, just didn't look possible anymore.

This fascinates me about Boxing. If you say "I'm gonna win" on Come Dine With Me, no-one gives a shiny shit if you're flanneling. If you do it in the glare of the sporting media in a sport steeped in machismo you're heading for a fall.

He knew he couldn't win 15 years ago when he first met Haye. Audley's a human being, with all the same flaws and insecurities as the rest of us. No amount of bullshit and hype that change that fact. He knew David was the better fighter yonks ago and he knew exactly what he was in for on Saturday.

Don't think there was ever a realisation.... throughout his career he has been surrounded by yes men. He's just afraid of getting hit. Difference was, David Haye is alot more destructive, quicker and better than Coleman Barrett - it was the same Audley. AFRAID of taking shots.

I'm sure there was one moment, when Haye did a novicy feint and Audley covered up... and I'm sorry to say this.... like a baby.

I think he realised pretty quickly he was out of his depth - hopefully he'll now depart...

As above, he helped increased TV Licence costs with his BBC Contract, ha! :D

Another common stick with which to beat him.

OK, it all went pear-shaped, but without him, there would have been NO boxing on the BBC at that time. Don't forget, the Beeb invested heavily in the sport overall, not just in one man, and as a result we also saw the likes of Jones, De La Hoya, Mosley, Barrera, and domestically Froch, Woods, Hide, Reid, Danny W etc etc etc. I suppose you begrudged your taxpayers' money going towards those fights too?

Yes i definately begrudged Audley getting a million pound contract and delivering nothing.
Can also do more harm than good if the hyped fighter getting primetrime airing is a flop !.
Any casual fan planning a night of entertainment with there mates last saturday and watching that farce will feel robbed. The silver lining for me was waking up Sunday Morning and watching Pac fight with a bacon sarnie and a cup of tea :)
