Anyone know where I can see the Hatton fight in Amsterdam?

Post by rook »

I'll be in Amsterdam on the day of the fight...
Anyone know of any bars that might be open showing the fight?! (We're talking 3am local time though - they're an hour ahead)
Alternatively I will have access to Broadband if it's available on t'internet?
Thanks in advance guys!

Well you would think so as Amsterdam is supposedly the 24 hour city, whenever i have been there come 3am it is fornicating dead mate!! Not a shop open in sight. I would stick with the Internet i am sure it will be online somewhere.

Amsterdam's a bit overrated IMO. But anyway, there are a couple of posters from the BeNeLux on the site, hopefully they can help you, rook.

I seem to recall that some of the big bars in the centre of town advertised Sky Sports on a big screen etc.

But all my recollections of Amsterdam are somewhat hazy for some reason. :D

Not 100% sure about this, but try the Leidscheplein - there's a bar there called the Bulldog which showed everything on Sky when I lived in Holland - they might have it.

You're joking aren't you? It sounds like a perfect night out:

1. Have a few beers
2. Smoke some puff
3. Have a few more beers to level out the skunk high
4. HAve a couple of shots for 'Dutch courage'
5. Visit a lovely East European Brass
6. Back in the Bulldog to see the Hatton fight whilst smoking more puff and some mellow beers
7. If Hatton wins, you will be buzzing - celebrate with another brass, before heading back to your hotel for another puff and falling asleep.

Perfect. I wish every weekend could be like that! :TU: :TU:

PS I have always found watching boxing (or anything) when puffing akes you really get into it....a different experience.

PPS I would go to a few bars (EG Bulldog) and ask them to buy Hatton fight. Ask to pay if necessary.

Arf! Yeah I deceptively typed the original post to suggest I was on a lads/stag weekend but to be honest I've actually just moved here with work. :TU:

I think the Bulldog in Leids'plein might be the best option I've been there before and it does seem to be the token 'Brit' bar.

Thanks for your replies guys (and yeah I might just have to follow your schedule of events E :TU:)

There's a Sky Sports bay on Leidseplein. Last time I was in there Robin Reid was sat at the next table. No idea what time they shut though.

As for Irish Bars the Blarney Stone is pretty much opposite the station. They show sport. As does The Tara which is a pretty smart pub on the Rokin.

Also got the possiblity of your hotel, if it's a decent one. Mine had Sky (fondly recall lying in bed watching the womens Australian Open trying to 1-Get over the worst hangover of all time and 2-Get rid of the boner Sharapova was bringing on) so maybe if you contacted them in advance they might be able to sort something out.

I suppose the Bulldog is your best bet, but not the shitty one that doesn't sell beer...make sure you get in the Alcohol licensed one not the coffee shop one just down the street :TU:

Been to the Dam many times in the early dayds for a tear up with the lads but when I met the dutch gal it lost its appeal.

My mates would be going over to get twatted and go clubbin whereas i'd go to see the in laws.

not quite the same
