Jerry Roth for his scorecards in Holyfield-Moorer I & later De La Hoya-Trinidad. He's actually a competent official, & I would not be surprised if he has been compromised at one point or another. He could hardly keep a straight face explaining in mere snippets on the HBO Legendary Nights De La Hoya-Trinidad Special how he scored three of the first four rounds for Don King's boy. It was perhaps even more unfathomable to have Moorer over Holyfield in their first bout by four points. Ludicrous.

Eddie Cotton in refereeing Lewis-Tyson. An absolute abomination. Cotton did everything short of punching Lewis to help Tyson in there.

..zack clayton....no question. cheered walcott on while refereeing walcott/charles IV(clearly heard by ringsiders and over tv!!)...took away charles's body attack by calling punches low that were well above belt....one was very easily seen hitting walcott on collar bone!!!...not just favoritism but in on the fix by judges and himself.

..so add the two judges to the hall of shame along with the referee..

Referee Jack Welch in the Mexican Joe Rivers -Ad Wolgast title fight in 1912.
Wolgast in the 13th round losing on points dug one low on Rivers .
At the same time Rivers bounced a combination off Wolgasts chin.
Both fighters went down hard with Wolgast on top.
Welch helped up Wolgast who was hurt and counted out Rivers as he clutched his jewels in pain.
Welch jumped out of the ring and bolted as the crowd turned into a mob.

He was also shown to have incorrectly counted Foreman out in Zaire.

Not too familiar with Walcott's refereeing career, outside of the obvious example in '65.

Any other major mistakes he made?

Arthur Donovan failed to correctly police not one but two knockdowns in Dempsey-Tunney II.

How about Jack Walsh for letting an exhausted Ad Wolgast foul Joe Rivers, then falling on top of him,Walsh counting Rivers out and thus Wolgast keeping his title.
Ramon Berumen awarding Jose Napoles a Technical Decision over Amando Muniz for head butting opening the cuts on Napoles's eyes. Napoles was deliberately fouling Muniz prior to the halting because was
tired and about to lose his title.

All the refs that never took a point from Ali for holding behind the head!!!

Good point about Ali & ione that is seldom made. Who was that ref in Manila? Sonny Padelia Jr. or something similar to that. He spent the entire night pulling Ali's hand away from Frazier's head but never did anything. Arthur Mercant Sr. also would speak to Ali about it (on the run) but never did anything. It was never penalised.

Something interesting about that fight now that you mention it. After it was over Ferdinand Marcos congradulated Ali and said that he had made him a lot of money. Maybe that's why Carlos Padilla never stepped in?

What about Melvina Latham and her scorecard for Lewis-Holyfield 1?

But not Lewis, Tunney, Robinson, Klitschko, Hopkins in his last fight...?

Seriously, Ali should have just gone to Vietnam.

I think a better thread would be "What judges and ref's don't belong in the Hall of Shame?" That would be a much more difficult list to make.

Duane Ford is a crappy judge. Jay Nady was an embarassment in a couple of fights, particularly Trinidad-Vargas. There's a lot of examples.

The referee in the Norwood/Gainer fight certainly deserves to be in that hall of shame. Counting to 18 after a low blow and then waving the fight off? :o

A couple of Ali fights that I'm shocked have not been mentioned:

The 2nd Quarry fight- Quarry literally picks up Ali off of the ground in the first round and the referee never even gave him a warning.

The 2nd Frazier fight-The referee breaks up Frazier and Ali in the 2nd round when Frazier is hurt. He said that he thought he heard the bell ring.

Arthur Mercante Jr, Lawrence Cole, and Randy Neumann should all be in the Hall of Shame for refs.

I don't recall which fight it was, but Norton at some point picks up Ali bodily off the canvas, too. Might've been the second bout?

You beat me to Harold Valan. He was also the lone official for Chuck Wepner's "victory" over Ernie Terrell.

Pierre Benoist for scoring the first Paul Williams-Sergio Martinez fight 119-110 to Williams. While Judges Lynn Cater and Julie Lederman had it 115-113 and 114 even respectively deserves a mention.
