I remember the night of that fight so vividly.

I can't believe that 20 years have elapsed.

The build up was great too because Benn got himself into such a state regarding Eubank.

After last weekend's farce, it's good to be reminded of times when evenly matched British fighters fought for a world title & both were will to go into the trenches to win.

Eubank showed what a warrior he was & Benn also showed tremendous courage, but just didn't quite have what it took to prevail & against the titanium chinned Eubank.

The menacing look of Benn lurched forward in his corner ready to burst in action from the first bell. One of the best fights I have ever seen. Two warriors :box:

Hear hear.

Benn looked possessed. :o

He wasn't going to give an inch that night (or so he thought) & he just wanted to tear Eubank's head off.

I can still remember the butterflies in my stomach as I waited for that fight - it was gripping stuff - no other sport can compete with that adrenalin buzz - it cant be touched.

I know you would expect me to say this as its on the BN site but Andrew 'Wake Up Call' Wake's article on this also warrants a read. Impeccably researched and deserving of a wide audience. Seriously good journalism from both men

I loved Chris Eubank from the first time I clapped eyes on him, in this fight.

It's one of those fights that a whole generation in the UK remembers.........along with Tyson-Bruno

Not being a pudendum here Shaun but didn't Ian say something about allowing you to link your articles twice a week on here? Which is fair isn't it? :TU:

I did write that at the beginning of this thread. To be honest I thought I had only posted the two this week. If it has been more then I apologise. I am not attempting to cause trouble or anything. I hope Ian knows this.

As from next week, if Ian still allows me I will only post the two from Mon to Sun. And I'll inform our other writers about this too.
Pardon me Shaun - didn't read the opening sentence - my apologies. :TU:

Interesting article but I am not sure how much is fact and how much of it is fiction.

Eubank's pure mustard in the first 3 rounds in this fight......he evades the lot but when Benn throws Eubank immediately goes on the counter, this is superb against a man he has since admitted petrified him. Poise, balance, power, brains, athleticism, balls. A joy to watch.
On an irrelevant side note does anybody know what they got paid in today's money and what the viewing figures were....I believe they had around 18 million tune in on the ordinary tele.......sensational!

Benn - £625,000 in 1990's money
Eubank - £125,000 in 1990's money

Not sure what it equates to today, but it was only really ticket sales - no subscription TV money and no American TV money.

The ITV viewing figures were around 10MILL for this one, early on a Sunday evening.

Even by 1990 standards, that is a paltry amount for 2 warriors like Benn & Eubank.

Both of those guys must cry blood when they see what the likes of Haye & Harrison (plus many others) got paid for such a farcical mismatch.

20 years ago!! doesn't seem that long ago.
Saying that though, i was listening to the radio the other day and 99 Red Ballons by Nena came on, i wondered what happened to her, and googled her name, she is now 50 years old!!
my god i'm getting old

the look on Benn's face across the ring at Eubank before the bell rung was epic, truly epic.

It was a look of pure disdain, hate and "am going to fornicate you up"

With each passing decade the stories relating to this fight seem to get grander and more story-like.
