Fair play to Buckland there. One of those nights - he just wouldn't be denied. Great tournament.

Ah bollocks. Reckon fresh Derry would have had it. But I think he left it all the ring against Choi. Well done Buckland though, he's got to get a british title shot on the back of this. Great night of fights!

Superb performances by Buckland, Mathews gave a good account of himself and set up a great trilogy for him and Choi. Sykes will have to show how good he really is if he fights Buckland again. Great night of action

I don't know Sykes just got caught cold IMHO. I think over the duration I think Sykes could wear him down and win on points in a cracker

Sykes shouldn't be stripped and he shouldn't vacate.

He should make a voluntary defence against Buckland.

Yeah I reckon Derry would probably beat Buckland over 12, same with Sykes and Buckland... His style was made for Prizefighter, though Buckland done Himself proud... I would Be overly surprised if He caused more upsets :)

I really don't see Mathews keeping Buckland off for 12 rounds I would see similar fight maybe a slightly later stoppage but Derrys chin has always been a bitty suspect, though he took some crackers tonight!

well done to buckland. he proved he had the tools for this sort of competition. thought mathews was lucky to get by choi but he gave a good account of himself after beating mcarthur.

What an event! :TU:

Will be interesting to see where Choi goes next- hope he can get some fights. Sykes, too, I'm sure will come back strongly.

Likewise Derry- He was doing so well, and that final must have really taken it out of him. He won two really good fights there. Real shame for him to end a night like that with a stoppage like that.

Good luck to all in the future.

Quite probably the best evening of boxing I've had all year :TU:

Prizefighter should be reserved for lower weightclasses imo.
The difference in quality fights between the small men and the big boys huge.
Last time with the heavies it was unbearable to watch, this time it was incredible.

what you are all forgetting this was made 2 lbs about the championship weight so that ex 2 lbs might not be so easy for gary buckland to take of but the champ was told not to go in this show as things like this can happen over the shorter rounds, Well we will have to pick up the bits and start over again.Plus gary has a chamionship fight with john kays and there is a eml. going on so Gary Buckland might have to wait for a while to get his shot.

unfortunatly it was only a matter of time before Sykes got caught with a punch like that, very little defence needs to work hard on it imo

That was a great night of boxing. Some great lads in there who really tried their hardest; a real antidote to last weeks fiasco. I feel for Sykes; I'm sure I read somewhere that if he lost to someone he'd rematch them over 12. Sykes v Buckland for the title will be a good one. Derry Matthews proved a lot last night and I bet Gary Buckland didn't get a wink of sleep; a great night for the lad. He looks very strong at the weight and is not scared of anyone - he just goes in and does his thing. I really enjoyed it; the lighter weight Prizefighters are great nights, far better than the heavyweights.

Just noticed that Sykes hadn't actually defended his British title for 6 months nearly. How long will he be allowed to wait by the BBBoC now before defending?

Just over 45 days, I expect - well, it should really be asap and that's how long his suspension will probably be for.
