That's what I need, selective hearing.
I have a friend at work named Raul.
Raul tells me he just bites his tongue, and responds with, "OK honey, your right", and then goes ahead and does what he wants.
I thought about what a good idea that was, then realized that's exactly what Monica does.

Showtime's NOT SO Super-Six super middleweight tournament . . .
Karl Froch and Arthur Abraham? Not again, please!
What a long, drawn out, senseless endeavor this whole process is.
None in the tourney, including Andre Ward, are worth a second look.

Gotta see it again . . .
In a little over an hour, they'll replay the Pac-Margo match from last week on HBO.
Hopefully, it will replay prior to tonight's live fight between Williams & Martinez.
I'm not very impressed with Paul Williams, and I think Martinez will win tonight.

Fifty Years Ago in the Life & Career of Don Fraser . . .
I'm writing about Don Fraser, and thru my sources I get info, and it's sometimes quite humorous, and a product of a great era in boxing.
Here's a little piece of Don Fraser history:
-----------------------------------------------------------
Exactly 50 years ago, Don Fraser was handling public relations for a major fight.
It was one of the four battles between the great Sugar Ray Robinson and another great middleweight champ, Gene Fullmer.
The bout would take place at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, on December 3, 1960.
Don had a young face, in his early 30's he could pass for a college student.
However his focus was on publicizing one of the biggest fights of the year in professional boxing, and he was often seen sitting in his office, typing away or talking on the phone.
Local radio sportscaster, Jim Healy, always quick to sieze an opportunity to make some fun of somebody, tagged the busy young publicist- "Spencer Krump".
Word spread and soon several sports writers picked up on Healy's tagging Fraser with "Spencer Krump", and carried on with the joke.
Don didn't get upset, he used it to his advantage.
People would call and ask for Spencer Krump when requesting complimentary seating.
Don would tell them he'd give Spencer the message, thus getting himself off the hook from free loaders.

I can't remember the last time I saw such a devastating knock out. It was lights out. Beautiful, beautiful punch!
Re: Classic American West Coast Boxing
Martinez came over here a few years ago and looked dynamite so it is great to see him come good in the States, although Williams bitterly disappointed me. Every time he went to throw a punch he dropped his hands.

I had no idea how this news would make me feel, but it's definitly a good feeling.
My grandfather was the greatest person in my life when I was a kid. I'm honored to have fallen into his professional foot steps.
If it weren't for my grandfather, I'd have never had a chance to become a boxer.
Cheers to grandfathers!!!

I didn't see the fight last night, was it on HBO ?, also I didn't think he Martinez was a big puncher, although I remember seeing Benitez knock out Mo hope and he wasn't a big hitter just happened to catch him right, Frank is the coffee on yet.

Great Stuff Rick. Thanks for sharing. Don must be full of memories, I hope somebody sits down with him and gets it all on paper or film. Approx. 2 years after 9-11 a video producing company (name escapes me now) came in and for over 12 months filmed and recorded footage and taped people (civilians, Police, Fire, Construction crews who helped dig out the remains) (some did not want their faces shown) with their 9-11 experience. They had to be witnesses of the event and/or responded to the site within 24 hours to be recorded. They got over 5,000 hours of footage with testimonials to history.(I believe they got Federal funding for most of it). Some will be shown (just a small fraction of the total) at the 9-11 Memorial on site when it will be done.
Maybe not today or in the next decade, but certainly long term these interviews will be a valuble source and reminder of our USA history here.
As we all know, history has a way of twisting itself all up over the decades.

Charlie I am sure you have heard these conspiracy guys when it comes to 911, what do think of all the people who claim that there is no way the building could come down by being hit by the airplanes, I personally think they have people who want to start an issue on anything and try and blame the government for everything. ![[icon_witsend.gif] :witzend:](./images/smilies/icon_witsend.gif)

Re: Classic American West Coast Boxing
Sergio Martinez KO's Paul Williams in 2.
Saturday night’s fight at the Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall in New Jersey was short and sweet. It was 1:10 into the second round when Sergio Martinez saw his opening and threw an explosive left hook to the side of Paul Williams jaw. It connected and then some. The ending was so sudden, so complete it was almost surreal, It was the type of knockout that scares you. “I was waiting for a mistake, but I was surprised that it came so soon, I didn't want the judges to rob me this time" said Martinez
The fight itself was expected to be a continuation of the first fight which ended in a controversial majority decision in favor of Williams. That fight never materialized. Martinez got his revenge quickly and decisively in a fight that started out competitively. The knockout is almost certain to be the knockout of the year and could end up being the knockout of the decade. I can’t remember the last time I saw such a devastating one punch knockout. “I got caught” said Williams “I just got caught”. Boy, did he ever.
There is a primal savagery in the way that Martinez fights; skilled but with a sort of reckless abandonment. He evokes memories of a time when the middleweights were king. This champ is not afraid of taking risks. He wanted to make his mark here in the United States and he did. It’s hard to believe that Martinez won’t have a following after this knockout. With one single punch he stole the thunder from last week’s fight between Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito. It has to shake up the pound for pound rankings.
Message to Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.; Make your fight with each other and quick. There is a new sheriff in town that realistically doesn’t need either one of you. Martinez is the kind of guy that can make both of you an after thought. Come to think about it, that fight is becoming less important by the minute. Better hurry!

Frank, when you feel up to it check out the replay of last night's KO! You'll love it!
I'm sorry you missed it. Martinez had a big target, and when he hit the bulls eye, Williams fell like a dead man.
