Yeah - a thick neck by itself is not going to get the job done. But I'll be very surprised if Chisora is just a stationary punch bag conveniently positioned at Klitschko's arms length like Peter. Chisora has better head movement and faster feet, but more importantly he has more devil than Peter.DIRT SUGAR wrote:Sam Peter's got a thick neck and only thing it helped him do was take a longer beating.
Chisora's only chance is to go in all guns blazing and catch Wlad cold. Other than that he's in for a bit of a shellacking, as you'd expect from a 14 fight novice stepping up a few levels. If Sam Sexton can catch him and push him, well I don't need go into the details.

Re: Can anyone make a case for a Chisora victory?
Every single possible factor that can be analysed points to wlad
Chisora would need to have terrific speed and head movement(aka tyson style) that's the only way a smaller man is gonna upset the klits unless they've got the power to ko them like haye has and derek does'nt have

Re: Can anyone make a case for a Chisora victory?
without stating the obvious wlad's main strength apart from his power is his ability not to get hit, and work behind his Jab. I cannot see when you look at the list of Wlad's recent victims, how any one can make a case for Chisora.
Samuel Peter
Eddie Chambers
Chagaev
Tony Thompson
Sultan ibrigimov
Not one of these opponents got even close or looked like troubling Wlad during their fights. So why would Chisora be any different? What's he got that the others havent? Ibrigimov and Chambers both had speed and were similar builds to Chisora, but they were beating with ease!!

Just because Wlad has had an easy run of late doesn't mean it will continue. He is an ageing, thirty-four year old athlete who's been knocked out three times and marks up badly. I think his recent record flatters him.
Re: Can anyone make a case for a Chisora victory?
The proof will obviously be in the pudding come fight night. But I don't think Wlad has shown any signs of age catching up with him. I just think it will take some thing special to beat him, and unfortunately I don't see Chisora being able to live with the tools that Wlad has.
Re: Can anyone make a case for a Chisora victory?
I hope he has a go and I think he will but I don't think he will last very long against Wlad - maybe 3 or 4 rounds.Captain Hook wrote:I have a feeling old Del Boy will at least have a go, unlike most of them...I can't see him winning, but he may have his moments in the first round or two before he's overcome physically..
He comes across, or at least he did pre-Sexton, as an arrogant git and maybe that will work in his favour, at least for a short spell.

Re: Can anyone make a case for a Chisora victory?
Chisora has good head movement and can get inside. That's enough to give him a chance. Wlad is like Audley in one way... terrified of taking punches. If Chisora gets past the jab and starts throing punches on the inside, Wlad will look uncomfortable. If one shot clips him on the chin, he will go down and won't be recouperating.
What are the odds of this happening? Quite slim, but Chisora moves much better than that oaf Sam Peter.

Re: Can anyone make a case for a Chisora victory?
Yeah, I agree. I don't give him a big chance (let me make that clear) but he has quick hands, good movement and lots of things untested. Seems to have good stamina, he might have a fantastic chin.
I give him more than a chance than most of the other heavyweight options. He's looked alot more fluid than Sosnowski - probably offers more in the power stakes. Sosnowski gave Vitali a decent fight (hardly say an arguement, but he won some rounds).
Never count out an undefeated fighter.

Boldest prediction of the year. I would have been very surprised if anyone had even tentatively picked a Chisora victory, but you "fully expect a stoppage". Fair dos. I can only hope you're right - and I hope you put some money on it, because if your predicton comes true and you didn't bet....nobby_nobbins wrote:Chisora ticks all the boxes for me:
He is fast, intelligent, compact, has a high workrate, is physically strong and punches hard enough to break opponents down. He also very calm and confident and listens to his trainer. He can box well on the outside and inside and can turn it on at any point in a fight. He is a brilliant finisher.
I think Klitschko will struggle to catch him cleanly and find himself getting cuffed around when he tries to clinch. Wladimir has had to many cakewalks and will struggle when drawn into a real fight. He will also have trouble adjusting to Chisora's right hook coming in round the side of his guard. Klitschko has a fragile chin and marks up very easily.
My only worry is he has a slight craziness about him which could cause him to do something silly and get slung out, but I expect a cool, disciplined display.
I fully expect a Chisora stoppage in seven or eight rounds.

Nope.I think chisora is too slow to get close enough and will kop an absolute hiding for his troubles. However, boring might think Wlad is too watch, he is a class act.

Wlad could end this in one round.
I quite like Del boy but he is way out of his league here.

Nicely put mate.Datsue wrote:Nobby mate, nice idea but have you ever seen a Klit fight in Germany where the ref allows work on the inside? I bloody haven't.nobby_nobbins wrote:
Brewster was about 6'2" which is approximately Chisora's height (listed as 187 cms against Sexton). Chisora obviously doesn't have Klitschko's height but he is certainly not a small heavy. He has a very thick neck (useful for absorbing punches) , huge chest and massive hands and feet. I saw him in training last week and there was nothing podgy about him either.
I really believe that the strategies Klitschko uses to keep opponents at bay won't work against Chisora. You will be surprised by the sheer strength of Chisora next month. Think about it: Chisora bullied Sexton on the inside in their fight. Sexton is hardly a world beater but he showed himself to be strong enough to push off Rogan. Rogan obviously lacks skill and speed but his physical strength is surely undeniable.
Chisora is going to murder Klitschko on the inside as long as the ref allows him to work. If the ref breaks them as soon as Chisora starts to work inside then Klitschko could steal the fight.

As soon as Chisora gets within five feet of Wlad, Dr. Octopus (er, I mean, Steelhammer) will be all over him like a rent-boy trying to sniff the last bit of popper from a mark's special secret place. You need to either match the sod for height & reach & be able to get to him from range or be quick enough to get in & out & not get cuddled (paging David Haye). Eighteen stone of Ukrainian hanging off your neck in the patented Manny Steward Deathgrip is enough to tire anyone out, I don't care how strong they are. It's like a sleeper hold.
Plus, Lamon Brewster got the ever-living shite kicked out of him for four rounds until Klitschko gassed & started eating left hooks. Klit no longer throws at that pace (indeed, barely at all) & I guarantee you he won't be laying into Chisora throwing seventy shots a round like he did that night. I would be genuinely surprised if Chisora could take the kind of shots that Lamon did that night, & frankly for his long-term health & well-being would not like to see him do so.
Re: Can anyone make a case for a Chisora victory?
Not really.
But he's got plenty of manpoints over Haye for taking the fight.
For that he'll always have my respect.

Re: Can anyone make a case for a Chisora victory?
He has decent lateral movement and footwork so I think he will be able to slip Wlad's jab quite succesfully. I'm not saying he won't be hit by it a lot, just that he'll do a much better job of avoiding it than most. The problem is, when he does manage it and tries to come inside, that big straight right is going to be waiting for him.
The only way he wins is if Wlad and the referee allow him to fight on the inside.

Re: Can anyone make a case for a Chisora victory?
I hate to bring this up, but British fighters really get overrated on here. Nothing suggests Chisora can even be competitive with Klitschko, yet we have people fully expecting Chisora to stop Wlad, and many people who give him a decent chance. I'm also not sure why people think he will give it a better go than the other fighters who have recently been in with Wlad. Peter, Chagaev, Chambers, etc. were all top 5/10 fighters who had proven themselves at a much higher level. Why do we assume that Chisora will do better than them, or put in more effort? It's not like he has been in a tough fight with an elite guy at this point (although he has been in tough fights with the mighty Sam Sexton).
This reminds me of all the pre Audley-Haye talk.

No chance at all, he's got nothing on Klitschko. He'll get battered by that jab and brutalized by the right hand all night.
He's in for a massive shock. His corner need to keep a close eye on him, and avoid a career ending beat down like Peter and Briggs endured recently.

Re: Can anyone make a case for a Chisora victory?
Answer to the topic is a resounding NO. It's a shame but Chisora should have went the typical Warren protected route as the Klitschkos are looking to destroy any up and comers and he is an up and comer no doubt about it - hasnt been tested at Euro level let alone the world.
Re: Can anyone make a case for a Chisora victory?
I really fear for Chisora in this fight and think it is a stupid piece of match making from Warren. Chisora is a brave guy who will have a go but he is not on the same planet as Wlad in terms of boxing skills let alone experience. I can see him taking one hell of a sustained beating here which could have disasterous effects for him mentally if not physically. Look at Jeff Lacy after the Calzaghe fight. That fight destroyed him mentally and the same could happen to Chisora. Yes it will get his name into the spotlight, yes he will make good money out of it but the guy has had 14 fights for gods sake! Let him clean up the domestic heavyweights first where the are a number of fights that would be big sellers including against Fury, Price and dare I say it Harrison. Then once he has done that move him up a level.

Brave but very ill thought out. Sounds like the training camp is a bit of a rush job, no sparring lined up according to ss

The shelling he took from Tyson, and then Vitali ended his career pretty much at anything other than domestic level.
Re: Can anyone make a case for a Chisora victory?
Listen guys we could go on for ages about this subject but there is one thing that none of us know, what's Chisora made of? (guts wise)
He's never been in a life or death'er so for all we know he could be the nex Audley or the next Evander.
If he gets past 5 and is still throwing then it could get tasty but beyond good uperbody movement (wich TBH is kinda slow) I have seen much in him but he's still heavy handed (I think)
That said... Klit ko's him in 3
