The games start tomorrow and bring together most of the top athletes from that continent in a host of different sports.Boxing has a sprinkling of world and Olympic champions although a few have defected to the WSB.Here are the main contenders

How I wish China would actually start letting their boxers turn pro. That country would be producing monsters in no time.

News here in the Philippines are saying Albania got robbed. Its a shame not one TV station bought the rights to air the games here. :witzend:

Without seeing the bouts you can never tell but you would expect a little bias for home boxers not just in China but everywhere.They must be delighted with the Saludar brothers though.

Read that R Saludar might turn pro. Hes only 19-20. Not much news coming in about the games here to be honest. IDK why but none of the TV stations here even bothered to air the games.

Heres a link to a report about Saludar and the rest of the Filipino boxers that went to the Semis. The Indian team is also complaining of questionable scoring when they faced the Chinese.

Mark Barriga is another young boxer I have noted.In the 2009 World Youth championships he lost 4-6 to the Olympic youth champion the highly rated Irish boxer Ryan Burnett but he was conceeding a year to him.Barriga can still compete as a youth in 2011 and looks a fine prospect for the Phillipines.
