Lucky to win? Are you been serious? He won most of the rounds and looked very impressive! He deserves to be the world champ because he beat the world champion, and he deserves a defence after his war to win the title imo

how can anyone think martinez is the best SFW in the world, ricky burns showed alot of heart in the last fight but he didnt beat the best SFW in the world, IMO he wouldnt have won the recent prizefighter and wouldnt beat sykes over 12, will be hoping him all the best next week though

Martinez was ranked as number 1 in the world by many magazines and websites. This site being one of them i believe.

Burns went to war and showed how much he has improved over the years, he lost to Arthur early in his career.
If that fight was to happen now Burns would destroy Arthur and would also destroy Appelby whos name keeps popping up for a future fight.

As for the opinion about him not being capable enough of winning Prizefighter, i disagree. He is capable of strolling prizefighter without losing a round. Would totally suit his style to win each fight on points but that is coming from a guy who betted on Sykes to win it! lol

One thing i will agree with is the statement that Sykes would be a hard one over 12 rounds, Sykes and Burns would be a great match up but could defo go either way.

He wouldn't beat Sykes? He would more than beat Sykes he would dominate him! Sykes is a really good domestic fighter but Burns is better than a domestic fighter he would win widely on points!

jonnyP, the only thing worse than your abilities with a keyboard is your point. No one thought Burns had a chance against Martinez because he had never shown himself capabale of the performance that he put on that night. Regardless of what you think, Martinez was rated in the top 2 at 130lbs and when you beat the man, you become the man. Thats how boxing works.

In terms of people saying that Evensen will be an easy night, I would have to agree.......on paper. But the fight isn't fought on paper. Even if it turns out to be a simple defence for Ricky I think he deserves it for the war he had with Martinez. You don't get too many of them in a career.....well not unless you're name is Manuel Medina.

No one gave Ricky a chance against Martinez, no one is giving Evensen a chance against Ricky, I can't wait for it.

Good to see Johnson turnover, he looks a real bright prospect for the future! Also good to see Appelby edge closer to a world title shot (even though he doesn't deserve it)
