That's a little harsh, Froch hasn't anyone the calibre of Mayweather or Pac to get in with. Hatton did well during his career, Warren is a star maker though, Froch deserves that level of fame.
Yes, but Hatton was totally beaten by those two. I mean, compare the guys Froch has beat for his title to the general level of opposition Hatton beat.

No disrepsect to him, but Hatton was for most of his career opperating a level below "top world class" - whereas Froch is right at it.

Agreed, Froch's record is now better than Calzaghe's IMO, the win over Abraham tonight sealed the deal.

Was he not "on the way out" a bit though? Hard to say really, as he never boxed again.

Sure, though, it was a good win.

and the Pascal win looks better and better when you look at his performances at LH.

Froch isn't ducking anyone and even in defeat gave a warriors performance against a great fighter in Kessler who fought the fight of his life.

Thanks to Super 6 he's seeing out the last few years of his career against great fighters when they've still got fight in them.

Joe's Lacy performance was sensational, but in many ways so was Froch's performance against Abraham tonight, he took a great fighter to pieces and didn't give him an inch, maybe not as eyecatchingly as the Joe v Lacy performance, but in terms of dominance it was mighty, and for every Kessler that Joe thought there were too many bums like Manfredo. Froch is giving us fans non stop big fights for real deal belts. Hope he gets to fight Ward, what a fight that could be. If he won that maybe Bute then Pascal rematch before retirement?

David Haye and Amir Khan have been carefully matched, Ricky H got found out at the very top level (although as pointed out, he had to fight the 2 greatest fighters on the planet which Froch never will get to do), no other British fighter in recent times has been mixing it non-stop at this level in recent times.

Sorry to say it but Mick Hennessy has done a terrible job maximising Froch's potential in terms of perception and therefore popularity and earning power - if he did get £750k as rumoured it's less than Audley got for freezing in the ring against Haye and multiples less than David H got for about 60 seconds of actually throwing punches

What is going on?
Current 175-168... I dunno what kind of shape Eubank & co are in.

lol a very very green dirrell, Pascal, a completely shot JT and AA really compares to eubank, kessler, hopkins, lacy, Bika, woodhall, a prime reid and an old (but still on par with JT) RJJ not to mention the 38 other opponents.

Until Pascal (who only won a world title last year) Froch hadnt even fought anyone worth mentioning apart from a shot robin reid. And people are trying to compare that to:
-a man who had 46 fights unbeaten in all,
-a 2 weight world champion
-Undisputed SMW champion
-holder of 5 world titles.

Froch hasnt even taken the belt from a title holder yet!

Fair enough.

B-hop and RJJ made me assume it was some all time list. Surprised Green is ahead of Johnson given Johnson just stopped him. How is Degale ahead of Paul Smith, Glen Johnson, Jean Pascal and Chad Dawson?
How is Degale ahead of Paul Smith? That’s a filthy question.

it's true that Froch should be lauded for his willingness to take on the best and there's probably some mileage in claims that Calzaghe didn't do this enough.

However, Calzaghe, for me, was much more pleasing to watch, was a much superior boxer to Froch, I think this is why he banked a lot more money and while I take nothing away from Froch I honestly believe that (that coke business aside) Joe Calzaghe could come back out of retirement and hand Carl Froch his ass in 2011 if he wanted to, but obviously he doesn't and why should he?

froch has now handed first career defeats to pascal, dirrel and abraham (forget the dirrel fiasco aa was going to toast his arse).

add the win over taylor and froch has taken
us back to the 1980s and loyd honeyghan the last british guy who had such a tough run at absolute top world level from the time he beat curry to the breland loss 3 and a half years later.and lloyd lost fights and had a few easy wins along the way.

and carl in my opinion has overtaken lloyd now.

Froch is so underrated.how many times do dunces say "he,s slow" or he has no "skill". Fact is frochs reflexes are as sharp as many man above 154 and he was a amateur world medalist. The man can box he is a classical boxer.

such is the excitement froch has bought it is an absolute disgrace he is ignored by sky both in and out of the ring.

a part of me thinks adam smith only decided to air a lennox lewis ringside special so he wouldnt have to talk about froch.

this super six has been worth every penny and the super middleweight division is red hot. we need another super 6 to sort it out! froch, bute, ward, dirrel, johnson, and kessler !

Calzaghe wouldn't leave doubts about the Dirrell fight and was able to beat Kessler. Froch would badly lose to Joe and still has the better record.

Froch`s best win for me was the Pascal fight.

Pascal has since gone on to prove himself a top fighter, but he was simply out beasted by froch in what was an utter war.

I hope Froch beats Johnson and then Ward/Abraham in the final, before returning to the UK to smash Degale into next week for an all British title affair (if degale is still unbeaten at that time)

Froch's a worthy winner, but are some people forgetting how terrible he was against Taylor? He was also unimpressive against Kessler and rightly lost. Then there is the Direll fight. As for fighting the best well thats true, but because of the super six tournament, which was not around when Joe was fighting and would not have made sense due tot he fact he essentially obtained all four belts himself by beating the relevant champions including Kessler. As for Froch taking away other fighters zeros, well thats all very good, but Joe also did the same with plenty of fighters, once again including the then undefeated two belt world champ Kessler. Its simple mathematics really if you win fights then that's what happens :-)

I do like Froch but from looking at the Taylor and Kessler fights, I think Joe would have slaughtered him. Just my opinion.

Carl just said he is up against Glen Johnson next and then Ward in the final.

Win those, and they are winnable, then move up to get it on with Pascal! Some run of fights that would be.
Agreed.

I'm quite looking to seeing what Froch can do now.

Let us all hope that the fights will be on a more prominent channel too.

Personally im glad Calzaghe has gone and we now have Froch as the uk's dominant super-middleweight.

Froch is old school and only wants the best. Unfortunately Calzaghe, despite his superior skills simply didnt have that same desire. Calzaghe was virtually pushed into the Lacy and Kessler fights by the boxing fraternity's grumblings of discontent.

I couldn't agree more. Joe always seemed more than happy to accomodate his meaningless mandatories for excellent money and low risk. I'm sure if Froch had been promoted by FW he would probably have a lot more stiffs on his record too. In my opinion part of the reason Froch has had to take such tough opposition is that this has been the only way to make good money. I'm sure Joe was making the same sort of money Carl got for Abraham/kessler/Dirrell in fighting the likes of Peter Manfredo et al. It's a hard career, you can't begrudge the odd gimmee here and there.

You really can and infact you must! Because its that sort of carry-on that damages the sport so much and see's television companies withdrawing their interest which leads to a lack of exposure of the sport. And in the case of Calzaghe, as Im sure you know, it wasnt the odd gimmee he took.

Calzaghe fought plenty of bums on the way up, so when he got to the top there was simply no excuses for him not consistently fighting the top guys.

I really cant understand people who accept this from top-level fighters. Froch is such a breath of fresh air on the uk fight scene. An exception in modern times infact.

Easy - Vitali and Wlad the Impaler!

Only kidding - two easily spring to mind though:

Juan Manuel Marquez - his last six are Pacquiao/Casamayor/Diaz/Mayweather/Diaz/Katsidis
Mayweather - five are Baldomir/De La Hoya/Hatton/Marquez/Mosley

They easily spring to mind as they are 2nd and 4th (maybe back to 3rd) Pound 4 Pound, and in Mayweather's case those fights have been spread over 4 years and not 2.

Not even Sergio Martinez has fought that level of opposition in a row. Or Juan Manuel Lopez or Nonito Donaire.

If my auntie had bollocks she would be my uncle....

Dont worry about ifs and buts, deal with the reality. Hennessey has got Froch the super-six fights, prior to this he delivered Pascal and Taylor.

Lets not forget going into the super-six Froch was WBC champion and so its unlikely he would have struggled for decent opponents. But thats irrelevant, just enjoy the super-six.
