When did Carl become German?!...

Annoying enough I think the yank may well out speed him to a points win.

I think Ward will domnate the Super-Middleweight division for a while.I rate Ward as the best out there followed by Dirrell and then Bute,Kessler and Froch in any order.Im looking forward to what Froch has to say if he has to go to Oakland for the final.

Not sure. It would be a close fight, imo. I would give a slight advantage to Ward because he is much faster than Froch, whereas Froch doesn't do anything much better than Ward. Both guys keep up a high workrate and have good stamina. Froch is a little stronger and can take a better shot, but he gives up advantages in speed and boxing ability. Ward's last fights have been rough, but the guy can really box when he chooses to. Kessler hardly hit him. I know Ward has had a little help from the refs working his fights, but he still would have won those anywhere in the world with any ref in the world.

Location and choice of official are a big part of it. Ward makes Hatton look like a saint.

just like Froch was all wrong for Abraham - Ward is all wrong for Froch.

Not an easy night - Froch never will be - but a comfortable points win for Ward.

Let's just wait and see how Ward does against Abraham first.

Could be a surprise waiting in that fight :TU:

What is Ward's chin like? Can Frochy test it?

I know Kessler could hardly land on it, so am guessing it'll be in Ward's hands as to whether or not Carl lands much.

I'm backing Froch to work Ward out, land far more than Kessler did, and win by late stoppage when behind (probably controversially) on the American judges scorecards.

Froch doesn't get the credit he deserves - he's beaten Pascal, Taylor, Abraham and Dirrell and was arguably jobbed against Kessler, yet is ranked by Boxrec below the likes of Dirrell (one worthwhile win) and Bute.

Ward looked a little fragile early on, wobbled on the odd occasion, but has looked very solid of late. Took Miranda apart and outfouled Bika, I'd say that shows he at least has confidence in his own resistance, or if there was an issue in the past, it's not prevelant now.

I'd agree that Abraham might be able to shock him though. That's a very interesting fight, one that Abraham cannot lose from his point of view.

IF AA loses against Ward, he'll surely go back down to middleweight? He's looking very, very average at super-middle so far.

As for Froch/Ward, if it's in Oakland or even the States, Froch has a massive task on his hands. Somewhere like Monte Carlo, Canada or even Germany would make it a much more level playing field. In Oakland, I struggle to see past a dirty, grabbing, scruffy Ward points win.

After the comments made by Abrahams corner last time out - don`t be surprised if this fight doesn`t happen.

As tough as Abraham is - he will be in for as bigger beat down from Ward. I`m just not sure if he will hang tough as he did against Froch next time.
BN were questioning Abrahams focus/desire before the Froch fight - is he going to be anymore focused after being shown to be wanting against the s-middles .. and the accusations he was performing cowardly by his own corner, and then facing a guy with a better set of skills than his last two opponents? :-?

Not the slightest bit surprised if he pulls out of the super6 ... or turns up and gives a `no mas` after a few frustrating rounds.

Good points Tony.

But the reverse could happen. He has seen Dirrell and Froch take every round against Arthur - and believing he is superior to both men, could overlook Abraham.

Ward is in hitting range (usually with his forearm or elbow in his opponents face, or ducking under and leaping up with his head) and Abraham's left hook could find the sweet spot.

With Saulerland's last trip to Oakland being a disaster, the Detroit fight and Lawrence Cole's officiating of the Dirrell fight... I can see Saulerland digging into their pockets to bring this to Berlin. And Ward may think Arthur is such as easy job, that he might well head over there for it.

Ward tries to be dirty he will be DQ'd and his WBA title stays in Germany. Likewise he could get dusted - or more likely, totally robbed by Tilleman and Co.

Jesus Tillerman, how that that guy is still officiating after the most bent refererring job I've ever seen prevented Robin Reid getting the title against Ottke, is beyond me. Sometimes boxing stinks.

Ward should absolutely insist that the fight is at least on neutral ground.

How can he after having two fights on home soil? Every other fighter in the tourney has fought 'away'. He should too.

That will mean he will have gone through the the whole thing (assuming the final is on neutral ground) without having to fight in somebody's backyard, something the other two fighters who have been in the competition have had to do.

How is that fair?

I never said it was. I do worry about the officiating in some big time German bouts. That's not to say it doesn't happen over here too.

Ward would slap 7 shades out of Froch.....he'd get more abuse from Rachel Cordingmouth than Froch imo.

Initial thoughts are its a stylistic nightmare for Froch, but i'll need to see more of Ward before i can make a proper judgement.

On another note......... does anyone think Abraham will duck the Ward fight? I doubt it would be him personally, but more a Suerland decision.

He was schooled by Dirrell for most of the fight, he lost every round to Froch, and there's a big chance Ward will box circles around him. Loosing three fights on the trot, hardly winning a round in any of them, will see his stock plummet like a lead baloon.

Dont be surprised if a phantom injury rules him out of the Ward fight, and the super six altogether!

I agree with this. I think Sauerland has got waayyy more budget than Goosen - Tudor for staging a fight and can easily afford to bring the fight to Germany.Arthur has to win or his career is on a serious downward slope. Along with the fact Ward is the only guy who hasn't fought anywhere other tha his backyard Germany has to be an option.

I would like to see how Ward does with a level playing field. I don't care what anyone says, he butted Kessler out of their fight thanks to weak offciating. He got away with loads of dirty stuff against Bika too. They won't allow that sort of stuff in Germany so Ward will have to be careful. I still think he wins, but it's not the foregone conclusion it would be in Oakland.

Oakland is a fixed outcome before the bell rings.

When Showtime showed a slo-mo shot of Andre Ward smashing a deliberate elbow into Bika, they simply said "that was a deliberate elbow.... I Love Andre Ward !! "

Appalling.
