My Cruiserweight debut

Post by demolitiondaley »

Well it wasn't the opponent or the result I had hoped for but I took a lot of positives from my first fight as a cruiserweight on Friday in Leeds. The show I was meant to box Lee Kellet on had to be pulled due to 2 of the home fighters picking up injuries and having to withdraw. Without their ticket sales the show would have lost money. I got a call about a week and a half ago asking if I'd fight China Clarke on his show in Leeds, I checked his record and seeing he wasn't a knockout merchant I took the fight.

I weighed in on the night at 14st4and1/2lb in my boxers. I had been told I could weigh in about 14and a half no problem. China was 13st12lb, I was a bit cagey for the first round working behind a high guard worried about being hit to much with the board looking on. This led to me being picked of easily by China with his long straight shots (he had very long arms even for his height). Having not felt much power through my guard I started to come out of my shell a bit more in the 2nd and progressively more towards the end of the fight. I was happy with improvements in my defence in particular my head movement by which I was making him miss regularly. I also as the fight progressed managed to start landing some good shots of my own working head and body. The main problem I had was getting past his jab but I was working him out as it went.

Anyway on leaving the ring I was told by one of the board officials that from the 2nd round it was the best he had ever seen me box, so that made me feel a bit better. I felt great at the weight, fit and mobile and more able to think on my feet. I wasn't marked up at all apart from a nick on my eyebrow caused by a clash of heads. I'll be back in the gym tomorrow and keep on improving. See you guys at a show near you soon, give us a shout :box:

These (ro)bots are great. It has managed to register itself, logon and copy part of a post from above and attempt to pass it off as its own. It's clever shit. Sooner or later they will develop one that can analyse previous posts and formulate automated, yet logical, postings that would enable the bots to pass themselves off as human - maybe they already can. Imagine arguing for months with a bot, rather than a real person. Awesome.

Probably have more intelligent conversations than with some of the David Haye fan club ! :OhYes: :OhYes:
