Any comments, criticisms or P4P lists are very welcome.
Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2010
Will Khan be moving up to #1 if he outboxes Maidana?
I personally think Maidana should be considered a better win than Abraham given that Abraham lost his previous fight and hasn't recorded a win over a natural Super Middleweight.

if your going off last opponents where do you put Haye? untested at heavy?stujones wrote:Will Khan be moving up to #1 if he outboxes Maidana?

Arthur former middle weight world champ with many defences then vacates to fight the best in the world at super middle.
Like diggler said khan beat the man who beat the man.

Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2010
while i dont disagree , i just think it seems wrong to see Matthew Hatton ranked so highly , but hes on a good run .
Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2010
Personally I think there is a case for Maidana beating Kotelnik as I had it a draw and very few fighters do look impressive over Corley.diggler wrote:maidanas already been beat by kotelnik who khan outclassed and he wasnt that impressive over corley last time out
Not sure I'd rate a win over Maidana(as good as it would be) as better than a win over Abraham though

Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2010
No matter what the result in Vegas on the 11th, Amir Khan should not replace Carl Froch as Britain's Pound for Pound number one.
Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2010
Bit annoying Seeing Mathew Hatton so high knowing that there are guys in Britain who would and have beat him.
Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2010
Not sure what you mean there SY - Haye untested at Heavy? He has beaten a top 3/4 ranked champion and stopped another fighter ranked in the top 10. Haye deserves's his 3/4 ranking at the devision based on his Valuev win alone.
I personally think Maidana should be ranked higher in the Light Welter devision than Abraham was as a Super Middle. He lost his last fight, two a fighter who (officially anyway) lost his last fight. Before Saturday my SMW rankings was something like - Ward, Bute, Kessler, Froch, Dirrell, Johnson, Abraham, Andrade, Steiglitz, Bika.
There is no way Maidana is ranked that low in Current Light Welter rankings. He's got to be really in the top 4/5....
I would hold it in much the same lines really. Then it will go on more recent run - Khan's beaten in his previous two fights two fighters in the top ten (both at the time and now). It could even be argued that Dirrell wasn't a top ten fighter at the time of the Froch fight and the other fight he lost.
So in recent form... IF Khan beats Maidana. I think his run of Maidana, Kotelnik and Malignaggi beats Froch's run of Abraham, Dirrell and Kessler (L). That loss is CRITICAL mind. Beaten Kessler and I wouldn't have been debating it at all.

Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2010
Maidana isn't anywhere near as good P4P as Abraham.
He struggled against a beyond shot Corley winning 8-4 or so..... Khan should either Lacy him or bang him out early. Anything less will just be a par performance for Amir.
When he beats Maidana (which he will, big and early) he's likely got the winner of Bradley vs Alexander.... which hopefully will be Bradley.... if he does that and Froch loses to Johnson I'd make Khan top.
Haye at this juncture is irrelevant unless he fights Wlad next.

Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2010
Just cause Maidana is ranked higher in the LW division then what Abraham is in the SM category, doesnt mean that he's a better fighter P4P
After Khan, Bradley, and Alexander, the 140lb guys are pretty evenly matched. Maidana is nowhere near the level of the aforementioned three.
Apart from the narrow Kessler setback, Froch's recent run is a resounding success. The victory over Pascal has proved mighty significant considering what the stocky Canadian has gone on to do.

Other than beat the guy who was ranked #1 in the devision and went on to beat Froch you mean... nah not much. Thats all he needs! He beat the #1 in the devision and Kessler proved that, whilst DEFINATELY faded, still got a bit left in the engine - and the manner of the win also.dekker88 wrote:other than beat kessler what has ward done to merit such praise?stujones wrote:Not sure what you mean there SY - Haye untested at Heavy? so 1 victory against top drawer opposition makes him no.1 in your eyes.
not sayin ward is terrible...far from it - i rate him highly (and other than the fouls i enjoyed his win against kessler)....but other than that single victory against kessler i'm struggling to see how his pedigree is as high as frochs at this point....
when baldomir beat judah did you give him the no.1 ww spot?

...and you give extra points for repeatedly headbutting the other fighter?? Salam must have been your p4p no.1 at some point then...the manner of the win also

Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2010
Other than it being a better win than Froch has had (single win or not) - Critically (and this seems to be the point your missing) Kessler beat Froch. Thats the critical line.
And yep, I did have Baldomir as the number #1 WW when he beat the Unified champion. Who did you have Margarito (who lost to Santos twice)? Mayweather based on his victory over Sharmba Mitchell, a career long Light Welter, or Cory Spinks (who just lost to Judah).

You forgot to add Dimitri Salita to Khan's current run
Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2010
How could you not have Baldomir as no.1 ww after the Judah fight? He beat the man who beat the man who beat the man, no matter how you want to look at it Baldomir was THE welterweight champion albeit for under a year.dekker88 wrote:

Haye has been in with bums since moving up. Valuev being the best of the lot, who nearly lost to a way past it Holyfield.stujones wrote:Not sure what you mean there SY - Haye untested at Heavy?
Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2010
So if Khan is #1
Is Prescott at #0 ?
Perhaps we should lobby the HOF and get Roberto Duran replaced by Kirkland Laing.

Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2010
Brook would butcher Hatton. Matthew's on a great run and was an impressive stoppage winner last time out but Craig Watson punched the lugs off him. If he's domestic P4P top 10 material then I'm Raymond Van Barneveld.
Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2010
Incidentally where would Paul Smith fit in if he were to beat Degale Dec 11th and vice versa?
Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2010
I will consider the possibility, but I think Froch will most likely keep the No. 1 spot. Maidana hasn't proven himself as much as Abraham has, so I don't consider a win over him to be as good as a win against Abraham.stujones wrote:Will Khan be moving up to #1 if he outboxes Maidana?

Re: British Top 30 P4P December 2010
Abraham was a fairly dominant champion at middleweight (okay, who failed to get fights with Pavlik and Strum) beating everyone he'd faced and stopping most of them who had stepped up, scored a heavy knockout over the still useful Jermain Taylor and lost a controversial fight against Dirrell. He was favourite in most peoples eyes going into the Froch fight.Horse wrote:I will consider the possibility, but I think Froch will most likely keep the No. 1 spot. Maidana has won a up and downer against prospect Victor Ortiz when the young fighter decided he'd had enough, lost a close one to the solid if unspectacular Kotelnik and struggled against a washed up Corley. And that's it! Most people think it might be a bit of a walk in the park for Khan
Not sure how you can consider a win over Maidana to be better Stu?
